"The Teahupo’o surf break is basically directly out front (off-shore at the reef, of course) but water taxis are right at the shore by the front gate of pension so the location could not be better from that POV.
It’s a short walk (5 minutes) on a nice beach path from the Teahupo’o photo wave spot and Olympic rings, or you can drive to the pension and park but only if you’ve got a vehicle capable of river-crossing - so that adds to the charm of the place as well.

"This is one of the most unique properties we have ever stayed in. Snuggled against the lush mountain side with a spectacular view of the lagoon, the Vanira Lodge is a must if in the Teahupoo area. We stayed here in 2015 and it was magical. We were so excited to be back and it was just as magical as the first time. Merci!"

"If one place made our stay in Tahiti truly special, it was Va Iti Lodge.
The owners' warm hospitality and friendliness made us feel less like visitors and more like friends. We shared stories over breakfast, enjoyed the lovely amenities, and felt completely at home.
The best place to stay in Tahiti. We'll definitely be back!"
"Place was very nice. Had a few stairs to climb up to the front door. Parking area was grass and lava rocks which you can park close to the stairs if mobility is a concern. Backyard does have the ocean cove right there. Only provided two large bath towels for a two night stay. I didn't request more towels so I don't know if that would be available. Wash cloths would have been nice. No closets or dressers, but some shelves. I rented a car at the airport because I don't know how easy it would be to get a taxi that far out."
"I stayed in the Kava bungalow which I thought was excellent. That said, the stairs to the loft where the main bed is are small and steep so something to keep in mind if you need to try to make it down to use the bathroom and back up in the dead of night.
The grounds and the view are straight out of your favourite travel influencer’s TikTok, so that’s a highlight, for sure. And the food at the restaurant was great. The whole place is up a steep hill so it’s not really walking friendly but if you can afford to stay here you can likely afford a rental car to negate that."

The pension is quite nice, super new, with excellent wifi, so I’d highly recommend it for sure."
"This is a great property if you wish to explore the south side of the island, or if you have your own vehicle. Unfortunately it is NOT 2.5 miles from the airport or the cruise ship port. It is on the opposite side of the island, Depending on traffic, a 90 - 150 minute drive. $115 taxi drive. You can get a 3 day tourist bus pass for 1 franc (a bus ride is 4 francs) but the busses stop running at 4:00 local time. The closest grocery store (outstanding selection of fresh fruit & veggies, meats, and baked goods) or restaurant is 2.5 kilometers from Punatea Village.
I would stay there again, but only if I had a rental vehicle."
Toahere Beach House - Right on the Beach - Pool - Pontoon
10/10 Excellent
"Ingrid and Haimeni were amazing hosts. They guided us to the best activities, food and adventures. Our family used the pool, kayaks, dock. The property is very new, clean and all new modern appliances etc. The kitchen is very complete. Upon arrival there was a basket for us of amazing local fruit and there were flowers placed everywhere for us. It felt very special. In the morning you see the most amazing sunrises coming over Tahiti Iti. Zero mosquitos when we were here mid-June. Safe parking is on the grounds. The 1 km road to the house is a dirt road - we had a bottom of the line rental car (Renault Kwik) and had no problems. Restaurants, markets, grocery stores, snorkeling, surfing are all less than 15 minutes away. We did a 4x4 tour across the island and saw so much more as a result. In my mind, the location is perfect for exploring the full island. Ingrid and Haimeni were very attentive to any questions we had."
