Super nice place to stay if you’re looking for something special between safari and jungle exhibits. Clean, great pool and the staff were very helpful during our entire stay. Including organizing safari rides and transfers. Only negative was very poor wifi which only worked in the restaurant which also were just Ok.
Horrible and disgusting and such poor service. We spoke with the hotel's reservation a couple of hours before arrival to confirm our 2 rooms and they confirmed back. When arriving there was initially nobody and reception and then a whirlwind of confusion started. Clearly our rooms weren't ready, staff we're sprinting to start to clean rooms and even kicked out a family out of one of our rooms who then had to run over the lawn with their belongings and stuff in their hands. In the meanwhile no staff to come inform us of anything but we saw mayhem happening before our eyes. We have 3 young kids and waiting in the evening when they are sleepy and hungry was not pleasant. When finally "finding" our own room and dragging our own luggages, they indicated the rooms were just needing "touch up", when we entered the room it was just so disgusting, there were even cockroaches in the bathroom. The staff were unhelpful and rude , we ended up leaving and booked another hotel nearby. The whole experience was so unbelievably bad!
We booked a family room for 3 in Thuduwa Camp for 1 night in February 2020. For us a great place for a stopover of 1 night on the way from the Kandy area to the beaches. Great pool to relax and very nice palm gardens on the shore of a lake. The family room was very spacious with comfortable beds and good air conditioning (please check which type of room you book as the pictures shown by hotels.com did not correspond (in terms of style and furniture) to the room we got: it was more spacious but less "modern"). We enjoyed our stay!
The location is on a beautiful lake, it's quiet and serene. The room was perfect for a family of 4, clean and very comfortable. The restaurant served really great food and was excellent value. Dinesh from the hotel was also great, getting in contact on Whatsapp and arranging a Safari with breakfast boxes for us and also a transfer to Colombo the next day.
Beautiful and quite place to stay.
Food is very basic and tasteful (no much variety) but ok.
Pool is lovely.
The Manager Pio Is a very polite and nice gentleman.
Do not book the safari through the Camp, very disappointed experience. Over priced, unpleasant discussions with the driver and the guide. The driver took us for only 2 hours safari (I was told 3.5 hours) and He was very upset when we complained, he returned to the park and took us on 2 blocked roads with nothing, I am pretty sure every driver knows the main roads on the park. There are a lot of safari that you can arrange on your own.
Thuduwa camp is a beautiful hotel, with a swimming pool under palm trees and little lodges to stay in. We were able to visit the national park on safari while we stayed. The food was lovely, and one evening we had curries for dinner by candlelight near the lake. Would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Udawalwe.
Undvik! Vi fick inte bo i vårt förbetalda rum utan fick ett skyffe med spindlar kackerlackor och en glömd frukost. Värsta hotell natten jag haft i mitt liv, och den kostade en hel del!
It's in a stunning location and Prem with his team are always on hand to offer support and help. The villa was perfect for what we needed and wanted and the pool's amazing (it is a rustic but very clean place), 20 minute drive to the park in the morning in the dark was fun (elephants along the way). Breakfast was spot on perfect and the dinner was OK (but nothing special - this should improve with more guests). As a family (with a driver) we loved it.
Really service minded personell who helped us with everything from arranging safari, taxi etc. Beautiful hotel with a nice pool and a little lake where you can use their canoes. Overall a really great stay with lovely personell. However, far away from stores etc so this is the place to go if you wanna get away and really relax. To sum up: amazing!
