We booked this "hotel" because of its proximity to Casa Loma, as we were attending a wedding.
There is no desk, no check-in except a text to give you a code for the door. There is also no parking on-site. This presents a problem, as check-in is at 4 p.m., during which there is a no stopping by law out front of the building until 6 p.m.
Upon entering the basement 2-queen suite, the first thing that hit me was the smell. It went beyond lived in. I couldn't identify it, but it was not pleasant.
The suite itself was... not nice.
- The walls had not been scrubbed, and were quite dirty.
- About 5 feet from the door, were two water stained streaks, which were home to flies laying eggs.
- There is serious water damage in spots along the baseboards
- The floors were spongy and uneven, clearly not well done and now showing signs of wear.
- The fridge was on a 10 degree angle due to the uneven floors
- There were exposed water pipes, some of which were leaking. The hotel clearly knew this because there were rags catching drips
- The blinds covering the windows were the wrong size, and did not cover entirely
- Stained Furniture
When I spoke to the property manager about the state of the room and the ticket I had received, they did offer to either move us or let us check out without being charged, but as we were at an event we did not have the option of leaving. I have not been refunded for the ticket I received that they offered to pay for.
This place is a slum with nice beds.
