"We loved the cottage. It was very cozy and enjoyable to be in. The bed was very comfortable and we slept great. The lake view was beautiful and at night, the stars were closer than we have ever seen, so big and so bright. We saw loons and geese. The host was great. We had a little trouble getting used to unlocking the front door, but once we figured it out, it was easy after that."

"This place is a surprise gem! Looking for a place to stay in the area and randomly lucked upon Poland Spring Resort! This place is crazy full of history, here are just a few examples: family graveyard on premises; free museum; nondenominational chapel built in 1912; an actual building from the Chicago World Fair in 1893 that was deconstructed and brought to the site by a whistlestop train tour and then reconstructed; the original spring for Poland Spring water that cured Hiram Ricker's indigestion in 1844, and that's just a few. The staff here are all friendly, welcoming, and clearly dedicated to this place. It seemed like there were "regulars," ie. families who return year after year. There's an open porch with huge columns and rocking chairs that overlooks the golf course and trout pond. There's a tall gazebo (on Saturday night a fancy sparkly group of teenagers gathered there to take pre-homecoming dance photos), an old gorgeous library on the third floor, an old swingset, a tennis court, bocce ball... I want to be perfectly clear. Poland Spring Resort is NOT glamorous and fancy. It's not a "resort" in the usual sense. But it is down to earth, inviting, and surprising, as well as super clean and well-maintained. And it does feel grand."

"Hosts Denis and Lori were friendly, welcoming, knowledgeable, and ready to help if needed. Lori gave a thorough tour of the home and property. They were both quick to communicate. The setting is amazing with lots of windows to view spectacular sunsets over the water and the perfect place to watch mist rising off the water in the morning. As it happened, we were there to see the full moon reflecting in the water! We saw a kingfisher, a heron, and an eagle while spending time at the home. The home has comfortable furnishings, modern appliances, beautifully finished hardwood floors and doors, and a good amount of room to move around. The large windows look on the lake in the master bedroom and livingroom. It's substantial in size; it has room and beds to easily accommodate a good-sized family. We enjoyed a great week in this lovely home on the lake!"

"We stayed for a month at this lakeside cottage and overall had a very enjoyable experience. The standout feature is its excellent lakefront location, just steps from the water, offering beautiful views and stunning sunsets, along with a well-maintained dock. Inside, the cottage is clean, offers comfortable sofas and beds. A big screen supported with Wi‑Fi, provides very good internet and cell phone service. The well equipped kitchen and convenient, new washer and dryer facilitated our longer stay. The location is also very practical, with nearby grocery store, restaurants, golf courses, and casino. There is easy access to the wider lakes region, as well as Brunswick, Freeport and Portland. The owner proved to be very responsive to attending to some minor repair issues. Finally, although quite close to neighbouring cottages, no noise issues at all. Downsides include difficult lake access for swimming and some noticeable road noise from Route 11. The sleeping setup may also be challenging, with a narrow spiral staircase to the lower second bedroom and a bunkhouse without a bathroom.Despite these drawbacks, we found the positives outweighed the negatives. If you’re looking for a comfortable, well-equipped lakefront cottage with exceptional views, beautiful sunsets, and a convenient location, this property is an excellent choice—provided you’re comfortable with the lake access and the unique bedroom layout."
