Perfect location for north shore hikes
This spot was so perfect for access to tettegouche, split rock, and gooseberry! We did lots of hikes then came back and enjoyed fires outside at the fire pit - the wood shed was stocked for us!

Yes, this property is beautiful, right in the middle of the North Shore. I truly hope you enjoyed all that the Trail Side Suite had to offer, especially the sauna and Gooseberry Falls. Don't forget to book again before fall colors are in full swing! They are quite spectacular. Safe travels! Amity

This was the ponderous, perfect for me and my 3 kids 8,5 and 2. We will definitely come back next year as we come up this way every year for a long Mother’s Day weekend. The place was clean and well put together the fire place was a hit also facing WiFi and a tv was nice for the day it rained. Loved using the bike trail so close! Definitely recommend.

Wonderful, cozy with a perfect location
This place is so beautiful, and has every amenity we could have needed. It also happens to be located in a great location that allows for easy drives to area waterfalls, beaches, lighthouses and charming towns!

The view from the kitchen window was absolutely stunning! We really enjoyed the location as it was easy to get to Goosberry Falls State Park and Split Rock Lighthouse. we loved the trails leading into Goosberry in the backyard. The sauna was amazing!

Accommodating and Understanding
My stay ended up being during a blizzard with a number of challenges. My van got stuck in the driveway. The host was in great communication and very understanding and even was able to connect me with someone who was able to help me unstick my van without an extra cost. I was still able to enjoy a pleasant evening by the fire with my kids and rest a bit during some stressful travel.

Love the accommodations and location!
The French suite was cozy and clean. We enjoyed fires each night with the unlimited supply of wood. The mornings started with a long walk right outside our door with the kids and dog. We got to just a fraction of the miles of groomed trails that border the property. The location is just right for exploring the whole Minnesota north shore of Lake Superior. We’ll definitely try to get back, especially if there’s more snow at Lutsen.

Great location!
We loved the proximity to many trails for hiking. The accommodations were a perfect size for our group of 3. The bedrooms were large and the beds were very comfortable. Would stay again next fall!

Great spot
Terrific location. Clean and well managed, but a flyswatter and a better light by the BBQ would make life even more pleasant. Four adults or two adults and two children are a better fit if weather dictates much time inside.

Overall - very good. There was a pile of dirty towels on the bathroom floor when we arrived and not adequate clean towels. The owner did send someone over the next morning to rectify this.

Fall getaway.
Took a 3 night getaway on the north shore to bike, hike, and see the fall colors. Great location with a trail from property to Gooseberry state park. Access to Gitchi-Gami bike tail right across hwy 61. Had a nice bike ride to split rock lighthouse. Had rain, but drove north to Lutsen where it was sunny. Beautiful fall colors on the Lutsen qondola ride. The unit was nice and firepit and sauna a bonus. With all the rain over Gooseberry falls was really flowing and beautiful. Enjoyed our stay and would stay again.

Beautiful Fall Week!!
This was a very clean and taken care of spot along the North Shore. Everything we needed, and lots of extras. Love it!! The only thing missing was a fly-seater!! And there were only 3 of them!! Highly recommend for any group!!

Adorable Interior, a few things to be aware of
Adorable cabin & lot. Great location for a Duluth/Gooseberry Falls trip. It wasn't overly clear but this is a single building with 4 rentable units. Not really an issue, just nice to know as the fire pit and sauna are shared. There is no AC for this unit and it's facing south. We were very uncomfortable and did everything we could to lower the temperature. For the overall cost of a 2 day stay, and for how nice the interior is, we didn't even consider there wouldn't be an AC unit- or even a window unit. We are a pretty tolerant family, but this was rough as the temps were in the 90's There were a number of flies in unit as well and a few unwashed dishes in the cabinets- all minor, but given the cost, we were a bit surprised.

Thank you for your feedback Amy, we truly do appreciate hearing from our guests. The warm weather this past summer has been eye opening for us as to AC units. Typically Lake Superior does her best and keeps the temperatures cooler. We have installed AC units in each suite since our climate has been getting warmer. We have a new cleaning company and have been working with them to make sure everything is top-notch going forward. Those pesky black flies though are a mighty challenge. :)

Heaven at Gooseberry
The suites are lovely. There are 4 units with two common areas- a generous fire pit, and a Finnish sauna. Kitchen is equipped with basic tools. And easy to clean. Both bedrooms are spacious, lit well -lights are on a dimmer 💜, and have ceiling fans when it's warmer. The hiking trails are friendly. This was a great place for my family to explore Gooseberry Falls and Split Rock Lighthouse. We will stay here again!

Very clean, modern appliances, didn’t try the sauna because temp outside was plenty warm. Access to the park trails is literally a two minute walk. From back door. We were there 3 nites. Internet and tv reception was fantastic. Great facility. About a 1.2 mile walk to lower 3 Gooseberry falls. I did it twice during our stay.

Great place to stay!
We really enjoyed our stay. Owner was quick to respond for things we needed. Place was nice and clean. Shower was small and bathroom toilet water was yellow from well water I’d assume but we didn’t drink the water anyway. There’s no ac but plenty of fans and with windows open it cools down fast at night when we came back from sightseeing. Great location. Loved the firepit area and the sauna. Was glad to have a place that welcomed our dogs to stay with us. Had the basics we needed in the kitchen too. Would recommend this place and if we come back to the area would stay again.

Great location and nice views
Overall we enjoyed our visit, particularly the central location and views from the deck over Lake Superior. The unit was fairly clean, but there was a bit of a fly infestation during our visit. Also, the owner doesn’t provide soap or shampoo for the shower, which was annoying. A small investment in providing bathroom amenities would surely pay off in more 5 star reviews!

Beautiful Lake Superior
It was very clean and a close drive to all great activities on the north shore. The firepit area was so wonderful and lots of great hiking trails right out the door. A real disappointment was the lack of dressers in either bedroom! After spending 5 days on the road from Fl to here, we were so anxious to unpack!! The chair in the master bedroom had a much needed living room chair, but had broken leg and so living room had only 3 places for adults to sit, so needed to bring 2 kitchen chairs. Condo noted f0or up to 6, but 3 chairs in living room and 4 kitchen/table chairs. Needed a bigger fry pan for french toast, pancakes or other frying needs of 5 people. We did enjoy our time there inspite of the issue's I noted One more good thing. Beds were really comfortable and we all (including a 10 and 8 yr old) slept way later then normal.

Super nice condo. Comfy beds. Well appointed kitchen. Nice and clean. Would go there again. Liked the deck and each place had its own grill. Beautiful fire ring for outside fires.

Nice Location
We were there for Grandma's Marathon so the location to the Two Harbor's drop off was very convenient. The property worked very well for us and it was also nice that it was so close to some of our favorite state parks in Minnesota as well. We would definitely stay again

So Freaking Hot
Great location and beautiful outdoor space but while the temperature outdoors never got up to 60 degrees, the temperature inside never got below 80. Never really enjoyed the view because I kept the blinds closed in a desperate attempt to cool the space down. Can’t imagine what it’s like in Summer. Also, the place stunk like smoke and there is no deadbolt. It was kinda cute but the living room chair was visibly busted and couldn’t be sat on. Workers on the grounds were very friendly. Would not stay again because of the heat but maybe the other units are cooler?

The keypad lock is a deadbolt system and locks automatically and wood burning fireplaces tend to have a residual smoke if prior guests did not use the flue correctly. Great Location
The cabin gave us exactly what we were looking for. Really happy with the proximity to Gooseberry Falls State Park and nearby restaurants. It was so nice to have coffee overlooking Lake Superior. It's a dog friendly place so there was some dog hair on the comforters, but that would be my only negative comment. Overall, our weekend get-away was great thanks to this cabin.

We are so sorry for the pet hair. Those comforters have since been replaced. We do ask guests to not allow pets on beds and furniture and unfortunately, we don't always get pets that comply. We have made our Lester River Suites a non-pet stay, just to reserve that for those who may have allergies to pets.

Very nice vacation property! We especially liked the view of the lake from the kitchen table, the wood burning fireplace and access to the Gooseberry Park trails from the property. You can hear other guests in the other attached units which was not a huge issue for us but could be for others wanting more privacy.

Quick weekend getaway
This was a perfect little place for two couples to get out of the city and get away. Loved how close it was to Gooseberry falls. The kitchen had everything we needed for making pizza and eggs/bacon the following morning. We loved playing games by the fireplace. The other units were full but we never heard anyone else. Was the perfect little escape for 4.

Last minute Spring Break trip.
Merissa was great and very responsive. Location of this site was perfect, Gooseberry hiking trails are less than 100 yards from the door. Sauna was great addition to follow hiking all day.

Beautiful weekend up the north shore
My fiancé and I planned a last minute weekend up the north shore and loved every minute out it! Merissa was a great host and they have a great property there! Not only was the inside of the place very nice, the outdoor fire pit and sauna were just added bonuses! Merissa was very quick to respond with any questions or concerns we may have had and was very good about making sure we had an great experience! I know we will certainly be looking to come back to this property in the future and would highly recommend it to others!

Family winter holiday.
A little tricky finding our way up steep driveway w recent snowfall, but mgmt plowed and shoveled soon after we got checked in, and walks/drive were cleared daily. We enjoyed skiing or hiking state park trails every day, followed by sauna in evenings. Plenty of firewood for cozy fires indoors and out. Very clean and well appointed kitchen. We stayed 4 nights and cooked all our meals very nicely. The only criticism we can offer is the unit was pretty small for the advertised 6-person capacity. Bathroom immaculate but compact, and living room seating likewise compact w comfy seating for only three. We four adult family were cozy, content and comfortable! We would definitely come back!

We enjoyed this very well-kept spot on the shore. Close to many cross-country trails which we enjoyed with an outdoor sauna as our end of the day reward. Very quiet and great communication with the owner! Will definitely rent again!
