Labor is expensive in Sweden, and to keep costs down the hotel has minimal staff. Check-in is automated. Great location close to the university and the cathedral (Domkyrka). Clean, fresh rooms -- simple, nothing fancy. Good value for the price.

Convenient location, in the city centre, close to shops, bare and restaurante and also at a walking distante from the railway station.Nice Roma and good breakfast

Depending on what you need in an inexpensive place in the heart of the downtown, the two best things are 1) not paying for a private bath and plenty of super-clean communal bathrooms 2) excellent communal kitchen - also clean. Honorable mention: staff is friendly If you want to hang out in your hotel room, the room is very small....why would you want to do that?

Fantastic location and friendly front desk. Room was tidy and peaceful. Very convenient to have access to laundry facilities and option to leave bags to collect later after checkout.

Small, inexpensive, a little away from main area..
Cheap and clean. Booked online after I got there. Couldn't check in until 3, but could leave bags. Definitely screams budget, but did have an elevator and rooms were bigger than the CityBox property I had in Oslo (had both a desk, chair, and other, softer chair, plus TV). I suggest couples/families might be happier closer to the main pedestrian area, but since the entire town is pretty small, this place was still a relatively short walk to about anywhere.

Great location and friendly staff. Good value for money. Breakfast was good but the breakfast eating area very small and not so clean. Room was ok for this price.

Good base for a parkrun tour
We used the hotel as a base for doing uppsala parkrun. Its 7 mins walk to parkrun and closer to the town. Rooms were borderline basic but we only needed a base. They let our whole party have a late check out and looked after our bags for the day. Felt safe and would recommend to others.

Great for Study Abroad groups
We have 12 people total including 10 college students. It was a great location and the staff was amazing.

A very nice hotel for a reasonable price, especially considering the fantastic location. The only minor negative was, that the breakfast room was too grouded in the mornings, obviously because the hotel is very popular.

Staff was extremely nice and hotel is very centrally located. I was not happy though because my room was literally opening in the reception/breakfast area, which was particularly annoying given that the showers were on the corridor. Otherwise, the room was ok, apart from the very kitch decor.

All the basics for a great price!
I found the single bedroom provided the right amount of space to be comfortable and heard little noise except a few people outside late on a Saturday night. The shared bathrooms were clean and the lighting was good. They also provided a good breakfast as well. I found the staff to be very friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend staying here for people that are happy with the simple basics.

Falsely advertised rooms, had to pay extra.
Wasn't even getting the room I book, had to pay double for that, the worst hotel experience I've had in Uppsala. I do not recommend this to anyone.

Wonderful place to stay!
I came to visit my daughter who was studying at Uppsala University for a semester. While there, we visited the Viking Burial mounds, the Cathedral and Uppsala Castle as well as many shops and bakeries in the old part of Uppsala, all of which were easily accessible by public transport. We also went into Stockholm two days in a row using the train with no problems. The hotel itself was clean with a lovely continental breakfast and constant flow of coffee and cookies in the lobby. When we had questions about local attractions the staff was friendly and very helpful! The rooms were neat as a pin, though not overly large. It was kind of like a cabin on a cruise. Our stay was fantastic, and I highly recommend staying here!

No frills type of place
City Stay Uppsala was not my first choice but the price was right. Nothing special as you have to go outside your room to use bathroom and shower. The reception closes at 11PM so do not forget your key when you leave your room. I must say though that they have a kitchen for guests to cook and sit and enjoy ones meal. That I liked the best, indeed truly enjoyable. And Uppsalas famous cathedral is less than 5 minutes away. No frills but would stay here again.
