The pictures of this apartment looked inviting and we were expecting a welcoming stay. The location is good, away from crowds, but we were directed to get off the water taxi at a stop past the one where we should have disembarked. For anyone like us (fit 70’s) the trek to the apartment over two bridges carrying luggage was a bit much, so accurate directions mean a lot.
For most travelers who arrive after a long flight or a day on the train to accommodations with a kitchen, it would be thoughtful to have a few basic supplies, at least for the first day and morning. We expected a coffee maker and at least enough coffee for the first morning but there is no coffee maker, and the closest small market is back over those two bridges, definitely a ways from the apartment.
Be aware that the mattress is extra extra firm and please! the pillows need to be replaced ... they were stained and very used, along with some of the bedding.
There is a washing machine as described, but no directions on its use, and at no amount of appropriate detergent. Also, no amenities other than liquid hand washing soap and cleaning supplies for the kitchen. As regular travelers we bring basics with us but don’t expect to travel with kitchen or laundry supplies.
We are also vacation rental owners and know how important it is to provide our guests with basic comforts, necessary instructions and information, and an overall thoughtful accommodation. We expect to turn some of the profit back into keeping everything updated and attractive.
This apartment could be so much better with more attention to basic details and supplies, but as it is ... just expect less than the basics and shop before you arrive!
