Great, walkable location for a quick midweek visit to Victoria. We were pleased to see a mix of young families, seniors, and other groups staying at the Strathcona.
Our room was modern and cheerful with a convenient mini fridge, microwave and tea/coffee station. We had 2 queen beds and it looked very much like the photos in the listing. We didn't spend much time in our room so we didn't need extra space, but if you're planning on hanging out, there's only two chairs, a small desk under the TV, and the beds.
My family and I received a room on the 5th floor, furthest away from the noise of the street front bars below so sound wasn't much of an issue for us but we could hear some traffic noise when the AC unit wasn't on. Parking is a block away in an unsecured parking lot on the street (staff advised us not to leave anything in our vehicle overnight). Some of the amenities advertised in the hotel listing are located in the same complex/block but aren't within the hotel itself. This wasn't an issue for us as we were more interested in family-friendly activities in the city.
Pros: the staff are friendly, the rooms have been modernized and clean, and the location is convenient and close to Victoria Harbour
Cons: unsecured parking lot, noisier the closer you are to the street and even more so on weekends/event nights at the neighbouring rooftop bar, and our room was showing some wear
