Family Trip to Vieques

Excellent place to stay!!
It was great! The property manager was super nice and had new keys ready for the Apts when the previous guest forgot to leave them. He was kind enough to let our early guest stash his stuff while the place was being cleaned, and the kitchen AC was fixed promptly. All in all, it was an outstanding time. I would definitely recommend it to anyone traveling to Vieques.

Beautiful Vistas
This property’s most valuable claim is it’s beautiful vistas and pool area overlooking the ocean. You just can’t get a more perfect location to appreciate the natural land and water attributes of Vieques. The property accommodates 14 people in 3 suites comprising of 7 rooms which we didn’t find anywhere else on the island. The neighbors were friendly. The island buildings surrounding the property do show signs of significant weather wear but the island is charming with its chickens and roosters and wild horses and a slow and relaxed island pace. I stayed in the lower floor espace suite in the main master suite which is perfection. My friends stayed upstairs in the other suites and they would have liked to have had the same level of decor in the bedrooms and bathrooms upstairs as they saw in the ground floor suite. Other than that the AC was cool and we were locked in safe each night. We made great memories at this home.

An amazing property
Enjoying the views of the stunning sunsets from the pool were the perfect way to end our day of beach hopping or snorkeling. Two couples stayed on the pool level, while four kids were “living the dream” in the two apartments on the balcony floor. This was beyond perfect for our families with young teenagers who appreciated the independent feel of upstairs while the adult enjoyed the peace and quiet downstairs.

Family location
This property is awesome for large families. The two apartments allow for parents with younger children to stretch out. The three bedrooms on the first level are comfortable as well!!!! Communications with property management were quick and effective.

Perfect oceanfront house and stay
Amazing house and location. Watching the sunset from the pool was priceless as was waking up to the sound of the waves. Tastefully decorated with all the amenities, ideal for a large group. Cool modern outdoor furniture. Host was very attentive and helpful with recommendations for our stay.

View was amazing but house left allot to be desired.
The pics and description does not accurately describe the place . Needs some serious updating and cleaning and maintenance. Sheets were not clean , stuff didn’t work and things we’re missing. For amount of money spent to rent this place it was sad .

We regret that the guest was not pleased with their stay but we find it a bit disingenuous. No issues were communicated to us or the property management staff during the stay. This is reflective of the communication problems we experienced with this group. Furthermore, the reviewer and principal renter ended up not coming to Vieques and did not stay at the property and we are unable to identify whose comments these are. Both the guests before and after were pleased with their stays and their reviews reflect the quality of the property.

Beautiful ocean view
We loved our stay! You could not be closer to the water with amazing views and ocean sounds. It was great to have separate spaces and a larger main kitchen for a group our size. We enjoyed being walking distance to Isabel II and had great experiences at the restaurants and markets. Such a wonderful island vibe!

It is spectacular
Best location right on the ocean. Evening sunsets are beautiful, and rainbows appear after brief morning showers. The house is spacious (easily accommodated all nine of us), clean, well furnished, pleasant exterior and only a short walk into town. We loved the swimming pool. Highly recommended!

Incredible house
The house was great for our group - four of the bedrooms were located outside of the main house, which didn’t prove to be too big of an inconvenience. The proximity to town/restaurants was incredible! The sound of the crashing waves in the pool we’re very nice. The pool was a bit cold (in January). Would certainly come back!

Stellar location with gorgeous views
Our three generation family with 8 adults and 4 children enjoyed our Thanksgiving week stay. Plenty of room to gather and separate. The outdoor shower and pool were popular activity areas to wind down after days at the beach. A car is needed. We rented broncos/jeepsfrom Maritza. Ample off street parking for 4 vehicles if you properly angle. While there are some area restaurants, the hours and reservations availability left us preferring to cook in for breakfasts and dinners using the downstairs kitchen. Food shopping was really more of a ‘hunt’ as described by other visitors. If you are flexible, and creative, you can find proteins and veggies. Weirdly, fresh fruit was tough to find. And the kitchen pots and pans are of decent quality but limited sizes. Still we persevered. The décor is best for adults as we needed to be constantly on guard to watch the children with the all white slipcovers. Enjoyed the outdoor spaces! TV streaming worked for an important game. Be prepared to go to the store for paper products. The washer and dryer were welcome appliances.

Friends getaway trip
We enjoyed the property this was the first time being in Vieques so we didn’t know what to expect. The house was very nice in comparison to other properties on the island. The number one thing our group of 10 enjoyed about it was have a bathroom for every couple. I would recommend to anyone looking to book a large home for a group of adults.

The place is beautiful!
The place is perfect for a large family group. The A/Cs where a bit of an issue but once we figured it out with Lizzie’s help we were able to enjoy the stay more. The view from the pool is amazing! There are a few repairs needed but on an island that gets hit by hurricanes this is one of the best Place I’ve stayed in! We left an extra pot that we purchased to cook a big family dinner however we couldn’t take it back on the plane with us. Hopefully someone else’s can make good use of it during their stay. I would absolutely love to stay here again! The place is 15-30 min away from everything on the island! I highly recommend it!

The Trip of Our Dreams!
Villa Chavaniac was the perfect place to stay for our group. We came to Vieques for my bachelorette party and the house was absolutely stunning! We had a group of 12 girls who all fit very comfortably on the property. We had a few snafus getting to the island and David was very helpful with our situation. Everyone we communicated with regarding our stay at the villa was so sweet and accomodating! They helped arrange a welcome dinner that was delivered to the house on our arrival, which was delicious. The patio and pool were stunning and we spent the majority of our time enjoying the incredible view. Overall, every single one of us had an amazing time and I can't recommend this VRBO enough! Thank you to David and his team for a wonderful celebration!

Property was pretty much as described. The downstairs apartment was particularly well equipped and furnished. Excellent location. The pool and patio areas are in good condition. Overall a great place for a large family reunion.

Wish it lived up to its potential
The house is beautifully situated with great ocean views and multiple terraces. The three downstairs bedrooms are large and well furnished as is the downstairs public space but the top four bedrooms are small and somewhat shabby. Overall, the house is not well maintained- bulbs were out, broken closet doors, air conditioner problems, broken jacuzzi, running toilet, worn towels, shortage of hangers The property manager was not there at checkin but was available when contacted for specific problems. Our biggest disappointment was that there was no beach access from the house which we could not have known from the VRBO property description. We surmised that the beach was not swimmable but did not know that we could not even walk on the beach. Also, the pool, which was lovely, was much smaller than it appeared on the listing. Overall, it was ok but not great.

We regret that you were not pleased with your stay at Villa Chavaniac but based on your comportment during the booking process this is not surprising as you had a multitude of complaints before even checking in. Regarding the comments about maintenance, the Jacuzzi bathtub is not listed as an amenity nor is it something we actively advertise. The conditions and maintenance of the AC units are clearly laid out in the contract. All AC units are currently functioning and in working order. We never implied that the house has direct beach access and in fact we clearly specify to our guests, that the beach in front is rocky, is shallow (it is only fit for fishing and further away on the reef for surfing), and is only accessible through a flight of stairs adjacent to our property. Nonetheless, we checked in with you during your stay and on your email of February 11 to us you wrote that “things are going well at Villa Chavaniac” and asked for a late check out to enjoy the villa a few hours more.

Great family house on Vieques
We had a great stay at Villa Cavaniac. highly recommended. Here are our impressions. HOUSE - kitchen, laundry, bathrooms, living spaces all well appointed. Appliances are in great shape. Furniture , Beds, Pillows, sheets, blankets, towels are all comfy The patio suites downstairs are really lovely with great bathrooms. Negatives - would like more than 3 lounge chairs and 3 beach chairs for a house meant for 14 people. Although a modern house and style - it needs some upkeep in a few areas. Toilet paper holders, some towel holders that are screwed into the walls are falling out and have not been fixed. There are several curtain rods that clearly fell out of the wall and were not replaced. No curtains at all in two of the bedrooms, and no curtain in front of the master suite bathtub One of the AC units was leaking, which they fixed quickly - and one in the living did not work all week (which was fine, the windows were open during the day) And the pool quickly grew a bit of algae during the week. The two charcoal BBQ grills were extremely old and rusty - one had a huge hold right in the middle. it probably could have been used with some heavy duty tin foil - but it wasnt worth the effort to fixup and scrape NEIGHBORHOOD - super safe, local. on a hill, so the walk up down was a little steep -but very close to town, so a car wasnt necessary if you didnt want to drive. the whole house and pool hang right over the ocean. so although there is no beach right there -the sound of the crashing waves all day and night was amazing. so relaxing ACTIVITIES COLON HORSEBACK RIDING 5 min walk from the house. Jonny takes great care of his horses and a wonderful local company to support. lovely trip down the beach and swimming knee deep in the ocean ISLA NENA DIVING great local company. top equiment and service ABES BIOBAY kayaking - well run though almost 34 guests, spent most of time organzing everyone - ask for a company with a guest limit PRIVATE CHEF - Beverly Davenport not too much more than a restaurant - her mofongo, ceviche, and tres leches was amazing! YACHT CHARTER - Water Time Charters -we learned there are no local boats that offer trips for more than 6 passengers. we got a beautiful 51' yacht at a reasonsable rate with these guys OVERALL we were very happy with the house and the experience it provided for our big family. Would highly recommend Loved Vieques!

Celebrated my husband’s 60th birthday with 8 friends. The house is a great location, very comfortable for all of us. David was a terrific communicator and very responsive. We would stay there again and highly recommend this house!

This place is absolutely amazing! The pool is really cool and when the ocean crashes on the side of the pool it is so cool to have the water come over the wall! Excellent location, short walk to town and quick drives everywhere. Beaches in Vieques are amazing! We will return!

Best experience ever!!
We rented the whole house for our group of 14 family and friends. The configuration of the house is absolutely perfect for large groups. We could all be together for meals and cocktails but had enough privacy when we needed it. The entire property is in great condition and we especially loved the attention to detail with the artwork. The pool and ocean front were magnificent and by far the best ocean front property we have ever seen. You cannot get any closer to the water than this !!!! Also, being walking distance to both the town (Isablella) and the local beach (La Chata) was really great. We highly recommend this property for large groups like ours as it is truly a magnificent and unique property.

a great location
We loved being walking distance to all of Esperanza, the ferry and all the restaurants and shops. The pool and terrace were great. In our case we had hired a man that the property manager had on his restaurant staff to help with various needs, bartending by the pool and supplies etc. He was great the first two days, but then failed to return due to a personal problem, for which he did apologize. I think the house is wonderful, however the floors are in need of some work, they were likely not refinished after the Hurricane. The contract they want you to sign is onerous considering the condition of the property is still being rejuvenated. However, everything being considered this home is likely one of the two or three best homes for relaxation, location, and facility on Vieques. So I would stay there again if returning to Vieques, a beautiful destination.

Scott – Many thanks for taking the time to write a review of the property and we do agree it is amongst the finest properties on the island. Just a few points of clarification on your comments. Regarding the condition of the property, it has fully recovered from Maria and no interior projects remain, especially as luckily most of the damage had been outside of the property. Thanks to our hard working property manager the house was up and running 60 days after Maria, despite the difficult conditions on the island at the time As we discussed on the phone, the “onerous contract” was designed to provide guests with all the potential issues that can arise on an island. Most of the conditions and clauses have never been evoked and most of the scenarios have never caused guests any problems.. Also, a quick note for our potential guests that the house is located close to downtown Isabel II, not Esperanza.

Perfect Island Wedding
The villa is divine. It is very well designed - chic and cozy. The kitchen has everything you need. The bedrooms are so comfortable. There is no better way to enjoy the sunset than basking at it by the pool. The whole experience of staying there was just sublime. There were 14 of us (12 adults, 1 kid, and a toddler) - we had our best time there. We also did our wedding dinner with 30 guests in the Villa. We did the ceremony at Sunbay Beach - it was magical and continued on our merriment in the villa. Our wedding planner, Jillian Anderson, did an amazing job with the set up. We had a long table by the pool - it was a very comfortable set up, plus the view of the sunset while we we eat was just amazing. We also had a bar and buffet set up outside the villa and we still had a generous space to dance - this place is really huge! David has been very helpful to us from day 1. He was very responsive and answered our questions timely. Our wedding was the first in the villa. I couldn't really believe it because that place seemed like it was made for romantic, intimate wedding (I think 30+ guests would be too much). We would definitely stay here again when we come back!

Memorable Spring Break with Families
This was my first time in PR; it was such a lovely time that we're already looking forward to the next visit. One of the things that made our visit to PR so memorable was our stay at Bravos de Boston. There was a little concern about how things would be after the devastating hurricane in 2017, and there is still a lot of evidence of damage on the island and surrounding properties, but don't let that deter you from visiting. Because truly the best way to help people to get back on their feet is to visit and spend your money. The house: rent a Jeep. The area is centrally located close to the ferry terminal and town, so if you're feeling adventurous you can walk. Otherwise it's a drive of twisty turns out of house dodging chickens, dogs, and horses. You have to be there to experience it, but it's truly part of the magical charm of Vieques. The town is close by and the people are very friendly. There's a handful of grocery stores to get everything you'll need for your stay, and the house refrigerators (we occupied the upstairs and downstairs of the house) has plenty of space to store food and prepare a feast for everyone. On our last night we grilled out and had a pool party. There isn't a beach at the house, but that's all right. There are beautiful beaches throughout the island, none more than 15-20 minutes or crowded. It truly feels like you have the place to yourself. The house pool was great and a hit with all the kids. They loved swimming to the edge and looking over at the ocean and crashing waves below. And the sound of the waves will have you sleeping like a baby at night. We had a great week in Vieques and enjoyed our stay at Bravos de Boston. Were looking forward to booking our next visit.
