Cute mom-and-pop property in a great location near Volcanoes National Park. It felt more like staying in a little house in the rainforest than a hotel. A little rustic, but in a good way. Hearing the birds and other animals at night made it really special. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay!

From the moment you walk in, you feel welcomed. The room was great and spacious. It does get cold at night, but there is a portable heater in the room. The staff was literally a text away. I didn't want for anything. John was very pleasant and a joy to talk to. I will definitely put this on my hotels to stay at again.

The room was large and comfortable. It had a working cable tv and lovely view of the rainforest. The house was quiet and well organized. The bed was shaken and needs new mattress.

Rooms were clean and comfortable. Kitchen area could have been cleaner especially the dirty refrigerator. Excellent location to National park. Few restaurants in the area but very good food. For the price, I would visit again.

Rooms were clean, breakfast was great with a variety of quick items to grab for breakfast including fresh fruit, oatmeal, pastries, and coffee/tea. Location was perfect…5 minutes to the national park! Some improvement areas: entrance area to hotel/porch could be cleaned up of tools and pet items for better curb appeal. Also, I know it’s a rainforest and thus very humid, but finding a way to decrease the humidity in the rooms would make a more comfortable stay. None of our damp/wet items dried and the fixtures were rusting.

This is B&B, not a hotel. There were some things which needed fixing (signage, bathroom repairs, and some outside items). The room was spacious and hospitable. Met the host when we were coming back, soaked from a hike amidst a surprise rain and asked if we could dry our clothes. He was friendly and accommodating, though the washer/dryer was not an option for guests. Very kind and helped us a lot. Honestly, I liked the come-and-go breakfast options and shared kitchen for little things. Homey, sometimes a little more than I like, such as throw pillows which are a touch item I don’t need, with cleanliness in mind. Good value for the area. Driveway maintenance would be helpful for those arriving in the dark or managing non-SUV vehicles on rainy days.

Jon was an excellent, friendly, and helpful host who even offered to buy groceries for us when he went to Hilo. The inn was conveniently located next to the Volcano National Forest, which we visited often.

Convenient to national park. Clean and Quiet location. More of a bed and breakfast style set up. Drive slow entering the property, can get bumpy. Ignore the purple key pad at entrance door, use e-keypad on door. Breakfast is granola bars and packaged pastries as stated. There is a breakfast and lunch deli just around the corner called lighthouse.

Keep your expectations realistic and you will love this place. This is not the Four Seasons, it's a quaint, self-check in style lodge that is clean and spacious. You will be sharing the common areas (kitchen and living room) of the Inn with other travelers. The room and closet are huge. It is a 5 minute drive to Volcanoes National Park and I would absolutely stay here again. The innkeeper is easy to reach if needed but if you follow the instructions you probably wont need any help. There is a small brewery nearby as well as a general store and a Thai restaurant for food and beverages.

Secluded and surrounded by the forest lends a quite, restful feel to the inn. Conveniently located just a few miles from volcanoes national park and the gracious proprietor made for a great visit!
