"Above the Clouds was a simply wonderful place to take a long weekend getaway. It was secluded and comfortable, but convenient to all the fun shops and restaurants in Black Mountain, just a short drive away. The cabin is well appointed and very clean, with plenty of things to do and enjoy without leaving the house. Communication was excellent and check-in/out was simple. Highly recommended!"

"This mountain cabin was perfect for our crew—six adults, four kids, and two dogs. Sitting way up high with an unreal mountain view, it honestly felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. The huge deck with plenty of chairs, a table, and the hot tub quickly became everyone’s favorite hangout spot.Inside, the layout worked great for a big group. Two master bedrooms, plenty of extra rooms and beds, cozy living spaces with a big stone fireplace, and a fully stocked kitchen that made cooking for a crowd super easy. There were more than enough bathrooms, which definitely helped keep mornings smooth. We also loved the pool table and the outdoor fire pit—ideal for s’mores and late-night chats under the stars.One of the best parts was how dog-friendly the cabin was. No hassle, no weird rules—just thoughtful touches like water bowls that made traveling with pets so much easier.The whole place was clean, comfy, and incredibly peaceful, but still close to trails, a fishing pond, and a waterfall. If you want a fun, relaxing group getaway where everyone (including the pups) feels right at home with amazing mountain views, this cabin is a total winner. Highly recommend!"

"The lake home was very clean and had all the amenities to make for a successful trip. Parking is ample, the interior is roomy, and the outdoor spaces are delightful! There are walking trails near by as well as golf and a gym. If you need to go to the store it isn’t far. A great stay especially during the warm months this would be terrific! "

"We had a wonderful stay at this really roomy cabin. The views are amazing - see the top section of Lake Lure, all the mountain ridges, and can even see to South Carolina on a clear day. The kitchen was very well stocked with everything needed to cook meals including a gas stove and electric skillet. Two floors, each with a living room and bedroom/bathroom plus the loft. We definitely would recommend to anyone else considering it. The road leading up to the property has amazing views too, but gets extremely steep with switchbacks. Make sure you have good brakes! Being a gated community means there is very little traffic on the road and it was extremely quiet there. If you are looking for a peaceful location to relax, this is it.The only two things I would say that could have improved our stay was there is no blinds for the windows (which I understand, because wow, what a view - why block that). In the daytime, the sun took over the kitchen and main floor living room. We were there in winter, so not sure how the sun would differ in how it comes in during other seasons. The other issue for me was the furniture in the main living room didn't have the back support I needed, but the love seat in the loft did, so that was the ideal place for me to sit (plus it still had the amazing view without the direct sunlight).The host was very kind - even texted us the day of our arrival to make sure we had what we needed.
