5 lakefront acres with DIRECT beach access from property NO HOT TUB

Get away from it all at this charming historical Lake Erie retreat located 23 miles West of Erie, PA and 7 miles East of Conneaut, OH. Nestled on five private wooded acres with 365 feet of private beach, the cottage offers a fun-filled and relaxing get-a-way for any type of vacationer. Path on property directly to private beach. Note: most lakefront properties have a bluff with NO beach/lake access. We are UNIQUE!!!!

This 3 bedroom home is available year round. The property is bordered by Lake Erie to the North, Raccoon Creek to the East and to the South and West, the largest tract of undeveloped land on the South Shore of Lake Erie, 4,000 acres of the Pennsylvania State Gamelands/David M Roderick Wildlife Reserve. The new Lake Erie Bluff's park is also very near by.

Historical property built around 1912 as the Superintendent's house for the Elmwood Home for Boys. Completely renovated, the first floor has a spacious modern kitchen stocked with all equipment to prepare any meal - a foodies delight. The living room has a stone, wood burning fireplace to make any night feel cozy. A very large deck on the back is the perfect place to relax, listen to the waves, and see the boats go by. If the weather turns, the enclosed front porch allows you to still take in the beauty of the serene property.

The second floor has 3 bedrooms and ONE bath. Two Queen and One Double Bed. The bathroom was also gutted and fully renovated in 1999. Garden style tub/shower combo.

Please note: our property has a driveway motion sensor light with a camera. This is the ONLY camera on premises! Unfortunately, we have had locals take advantage of our trash bin, causing issues for our guests! Please rest assured, there are NO cameras anywhere within the home, on the back deck, or on the front porch. Driveway ONLY. Your privacy is of utmost concern!

Nearby: Wineries, Twisted Elk Brewing, Black Monk Brewing, Erie Brewing, Erie Distillery, Covered Bridges of Ashtabula County, Geneva on the Lake, Presque Isle State Park, Tom Ridge Center, The White Turkey Drive-In, Peggy Gray Candies, Waldameer Amusement Park, Splash Lagoon, The Brig Niagara, Pymatuning Lake (where the ducks walk on the fish's backs), Amish country, Camp Fitch, Camp Sherwin, Camp Eriez, Charter Fishing in Conneaut or Erie (no cleaning fish at the cottage!), Tasty Twist, Conneaut Lake Park, Golfing (Over Lake is very nice and nearby), lake Kayaking, Canoeing (Grand River and Elk Creek access are a short drive), jet skiing, scuba diving (yes, in Lake Erie!), Morel mushroom hunting, disc golf ...

Relaxing: The environment simply lures you into leaving your stresses behind. Take time for incredible sunsets that rival those of Key West!

Swimming: On your own private beach. Build a fire on the beach and cook a hot dog or roast a marshmallow. There is almost always drift wood to keep the fire going.

Games: Horseshoes and bocce balls are all provided. The large side yard is a great place to play catch.

Hiking: Over 4000 acres of State game lands are just outside your front door. *Hiking not recommended during hunting season.

Boating: The cottage has room to park your boat. Boats will need to go to Conneaut, Elk Creek, or other nearby ramps. Please clear any RV, camper or boat/trailer parking with owners. Kayaks can be launched at Raccoon Park nextdoor!

Hunting: Deer, turkey, dove and much more bring the hunters in from all over the world.

Birding: At least 50 species of bird nest here. Bald Eagles are now a common site, Mississippi Kites, Peregrine Falcons are all sighted during migration. Late August and early September brings Monarch butterflies on their way to Mexico. King rail, black tern, least bittern, great egret, yellow crowned night heron and the common tern are others the avid birder has a chance of seeing. Recently spotted Scarlet Tanager and Rose Breasted Grosbeak. Pileated wood peckers!!!

Fishing: Either from the shore, along Raccoon Creek, or nearby Elk and Walnut Creeks, your own boat or chartering in Conneaut or Erie. Walleye, Trout, Perch and many other species. Ice Fishing in Presque Isle bay is a popular winter sport. *NO CLEANING FISH AT THE COTTAGE*

Biking: The lightly traveled roads make for great rides, from leisurely to hard core. Check out Old Lake Road west of the OH/PA line, its awesome!

Eclipse getaway at the Cottage on Lake Erie
We had a wonderful getaway at the Cottage on Lake Erie. Being able to watch the solar eclipse in the Path of Totality was an amazing experience, and we are so grateful we were able to do so!! Communication with the owner was great from the time of booking, including a couple times during our stay. We checked into a clean, cozy, well-stocked home. The view off the deck in early April is great! There is a clear pathway leading to steps that take you down to the lake. There are more than enough outdoor chairs for 6 guests. There is a fire pit at the top of the hill behind the house, and a place to make fires on the beach. I recommend doing so while watching one of Erie's beautiful sunsets! You can walk to Raccoon Park next door, which has a nice playground, pavilions and beach area. Although we woke to no power the first morning, the owner was wonderful. She contacted the power company for us and found out it was an outtage due to an accident. We hopped in the car and headed to Conneaut, OH for breakfast at Angela's Cafe. The Mess is delicious! Conneaut Twp. Park's beach is great for beachcombers, being known for its cobalt blue beach glass. We visited nearby Twisted Elk Brewery, Peggy Gray Candies, Grandpa Pizzi's Place and JT's Bagels...all delicious. And of course, the solar eclipse was amazing, complete with cheers from the park next door. We had a wonderful time and intend to return!

    Cabin on Lake Erie
The cabin was a little outdated and I would not recommend it for families with small children. Probably much better for parties in the summer it was very dreary during our stay. There is a lot of paperwork you will be required to fill out not through the VRBO app to stay here.

    Just What We Needed
We had a pleasant weekend at the cottage on Lake Erie. The interior was clean, the kitchen was well-equipped, and the beds were comfortable. If you open the windows, the sound of the waves hitting the shore will lull you to sleep. We had clear skies Saturday night and the back deck was the perfect place to star gaze. As someone who frequently wakes up during the night, I especially appreciated the multiple night lights in the hall and bathroom.

    Invigorating yet Restful
This cottage is a lift for your spirits and a balm for your stress. My wife and I stayed here with two other family members recently. Even though off-season, we found our stay to be even more pleasing than we had expected. The interior is beautiful, with many fine-tuned touches and accents. The spacious back deck is perfect for entertaining or using the gas grill. The spacious green lawn and wooded areas are also beautiful. The woods and path down to the private beach are also quite pleasing. Communication with the owners was just right for our needs. Stay here! You will be glad you did. You will want to return, as we do.

    A Wonderful Cottage!
Cottage on Lake Erie was exactly what my wife and I needed after being apart for several months due to family health matters. The location was serene, with a wonderful view of Lake Erie from the kitchen and back porch. Access to the beach was just a short 2 min walk down a trail to view the gorgeous sunsets in the evening. We couldn't have asked for anything better. Will definitely return for a longer stay in the future.

    Amazing Cottage
We came out to fish. In the past, we’ve stayed at motels. We took a chance on a VRBO and were totally impressed. The proximity to the lake was inspiring. For a similar rate at a motel, we got a whole house on the lake. Having the kitchen saved us on dining out. We may be hooked on VRBO!
