"For our first time experiencing a Ryokan Onsen as a family of 4, we wanted to experience one of the best in Kurokawa. And Gekkoju does not disappoint! The room was beautiful and spacious with a lot included. The staff helping us was super friendly and accommodating. The service and food was amazing.
The indoor and outdoor onsen that is private to our room was fantastic and personally we thought it was much better than hiking up to go to the prebooked outdoor sky terrace onsen, especially at night when you really can't see anything (sort of creepy) therefore enjoying our personal bath was amazing.
Our only small gripe which is hard to control are some of the creepy crawlies that we encountered. Mainly in the morning at the end of our trip, although harmless and help with other pests... it was scary to suddenly confront a giant huntsman spider and huge house centipede. But other than that I would def come back for a visit in the future! Most likely in the early winter!"
