Misleading Upgrade, Poor Communication, and Ruined Stay
Our Zurich stay was extremely disappointing, especially as this was our honeymoon. Before our flight from Berlin, the concierge confirmed early check-in and offered an “upgrade.” While in the air (with no Wi-Fi), they changed the apartment address without prior disclosure. Upon arrival, we discovered the new location was about a 30-minute walk from Old Town—far from where we intentionally booked and unsuitable for us due to health reasons and limited restaurant access during holidays.
We agreed to an upgrade, not a district change. Our request to return to the original apartment or receive a refund was refused, and the owner never contacted us. VRBO’s offered transportation credit was inadequate, leaving us no choice but to stay.
The apartment had multiple issues: a non-working TV, malfunctioning dryer, unannounced maintenance visit, and constant tram noise day and night, making sleep impossible.
This once-in-a-lifetime trip was deeply stressful and emotionally upsetting. I would never recommend this property and strongly caution future guests about misleading practices and poor customer service.
