Shengsi Islands Beach Holidays

Absolutely loved this stay. Just a 10-minute walk to the Bund, with charming old houses along the way. The room was spotless, the bed super comfortable, and I slept like a baby. Great water pressure in the shower. The laundry room on the 4th floor was a huge plus—wash and dry in one go. Nice gym for a quick morning workout, and the rooftop terrace has an amazing view of Lujiazui at night. Front desk staff were friendly, efficient, and even recommended some great local Shanghainese restaurants. Would definitely stay again.

All rooms were clean when I checked in. The staff was very helpful since it was my first time to stay in a residential area in China, and had a lot of questions, ie how to open the door, how to use the washing machine, etc. The staff answered my questions within a minute.

Clean room, good Breakfast, but small Lobby

Good hotel if you're from China. I would not recommend it for foreigners; they hardly speak English. Room service (simple sandwich) took over an hour. Someone was brushing the carpet - machine noise - in the hallway outside my room at 1AM in the morning.

The area around the hotel wasn't very nice, and cars couldn't drop guests off directly at the entrance because of the barriers outside. If you have heavy luggage, you'll need to walk a short distance, which is especially inconvenient in the rain. The airport shuttle only runs once an hour. More frequent service would make it much more convenient. Since the shuttle schedule didn't work for me, I ended up taking a taxi to the airport instead. The soundproofing was also quite poor. I was woken up in the middle of the night by noise from the room next door. On top of that, the TV in my room didn't work during my stay.

The buffet breakfast was nice. During the rain storm, there was a ceiling leak into our room. But it was fixed the same day. Unfortunately the maintenance staff left a drill and construction dust in our room. We had to consistently ask for enough towels for our whole family to bathe. Our kids had a lot of fun playing in the play room.

Sticky surfaces, traces of spit and other disgusting things on the walls and in the shower, the air conditioner works when it feels like it and it's completely moldy inside, clear traces of mold in the corners of the room. The worst was a constant smell of sewage coming up from bathroom and sink. The last day the smell got so bad i felt nauseous, there were even flies that i guess came up from the sewage. The room doesn't remotely worth the price.
