The views from our room were excellent. You could see the iconic Hollywood sign and the Griffith park observatory. The gym had more than enough equipment to get a good workout. Finally the pool area was a very pleasant surprise with it’s outdoor garden vibe.

It's such a convenient spot and the staff is amazing!

This hotel was better than expected. From the very kind and helpful staff, to the delicious food at all the venues (Tap Room, Terrace and Royce), this was the perfect place to come home to after touring LA. The grounds are gorgeous, spacious and beautifully kept. The rooms were spacious, with banquettes and views of the grounds. I will definitely be back.

We traveled to L.A. the first time and was looking for the usual Hilton/Marriott but, and landed on The Sun Rose first night was a pleasant change. Our flight was delayed into the late night and there wasn't a doorman to show us the way when our ride got to the checker-floored piazza, so it was a bit confusing as the check in lobby is tucked inside behind the amazing mirror-ball centerpiece. The room was clean in general with nice temperature controlled, but did find tiny bugs under the bedsheet which I asked the staff to change. I wish there was a microwave, but you can request for the kettle. The view wasn't great facing the street and got noisy early in the morning with the traffic, and didn't help with the noisy neighbor that might have party too hard and showering/enjoying TV/talking 4 O'clock. Hind sight we probably should've requested a room change but just thought the day after would be better, plus we weren't there for the whole day everyday so didn't want to cause too much fuss. The hotel roof-top pool looked as amazing as on the photo, although it operates in limited 10-7pm, which we didn't get to enjoy as we left in the morning and got back past 7pm usually so that was a bummer. The gym was by far the best I have seen in all of the hotel stays with all sorts of equipment and a spacious separate studio room; there was not enough dry towels when I was there, but at least there is the refrigerated-wet-towels I could use. Great staff at checkin.

Our room lacked toiletries. There was no Bar soap for the sink and tub and conditioner dispenser in shower was empty. The shampoo in shower was akin to prell or dish soap. The sheer curtain was not attached inside window and baseboards were degraded. Wallpaper was peeling in several places in bathroom and carpet and bases of beds are stained. The lamp shades in bathroom have an accumulation of dust. Grime has built up in tile corners outside shower base. Bedside lamps are not secure to wall- they are wobbly and need reinstall. Outside of room the hallways are nice and hotel lobbies and common areas are pristine. Our check-in went smoothly and staff was friendly. My husband called security to check on me (his wife) and they never arrived. Turned out I was just sleeping and didn’t realize I had locked double bolt and husband couldn’t get in room. I eventually woke up but again, security never showed.

Pool area was great. alcohol prices in the pool area were an easy way to avoid drinking. Room furniture was in somewhat poor condition. the drawers on out cabinets were very difficult to open. several easy stores on the mezz level to shop and get liquor
