This is not a 5 star hotel. At best it is 4 star, perhaps 3.5. We checked out early and went to another hotel which was a notable improvement. Having said that, if you are looking for a 4 star hotel that gives offers an excellent location close to the waterfront, Harbour bridge, opera house, and botanic gardens, and you are content with poor service; adequate rooms; and an eclectic mix of guests which will include a lot of young families; 20 something year olds staying the CBD for a big night at the clubs; and people who think it is ok to dress like slobs at breakfast (flip flops, hot pants, sports bras, gym gear, singlets, baseball caps etc), then the Intercontinental is a good (and relatively cheap) choice. If you are looking for a 5 star hotel, swipe left.

Excellent condition with great room and newly redecorated. Unfortunately thin staffing levels mean you to tend to be looking around for service but those that are around try as best as they can.

Very central location…staff were nice. But a few warning signs on the floors advising guests to respect others and keep quiet would have been good. Was not impressed with noisy guests on my floor with little self awareness.
