"The Block House exceeded expectations. The staff was so friendly, it felt like staying at a dear friend’s house, a really nice house, like the house from Parasite. "This is a small family run hotel. The hotel is located about 1km from the Shuishe pier and was a easy walk along the lake via the pedestrian bikeway. We selected a double room with a view of the lake. The room was very nice and quite large. It was clean and had screens to keep the bugs out if you wanted fresh air. It had a balcony with a small table and 2 chairs and we were able to enjoy the great view along with a glass of wine. The shower worked well and had plenty of hot water. The owner...

"Unfortunately our stay was not one that we could recommend. Upon checkin they refuswd to take credit card as paynent resulting us in a delayed checkin. On first sight the room was ok but in the evening upon entering bed i saw cockroaches. Tried reporting this to the front desk but they close from 7pm to 8.30am. As for breakfast they give you a pork sandwich or a 7 eleven voucher for 60 taiwan dollar. A very disappointing stay especially for the high price paid"

There are tables to eat in the lobby so we ate our dinner there and the owner very kindly offered us Japanese biscuits as a snack. When it was raining, he offered to drive us to the pier and they even help send your luggage to the bus pick up point so that you do not need to return to the accommodation to get it. "Was a great stay to feel as if you are living in the area. Nice to have a kitchen to cook meals. View of courtyard is wonderful. Landlord was respectful of our privacy and was a very enjoyable week. Would stay here again"
