「Great location for exploring Kiso Valley and the Nakasendo Trail. Hotel is Japanese style with Onsen and tatami rooms, but also private baths and western amenities. Great view of the local river from most or all rooms.」

「This is a very old building. No lift is available. The staircase is slanting and is difficult for elders to climb. Foods offered were not up to standard.」

「Great location that just next to the lake Suwa. Luckily we can enjoy the Sakura on the riverside through the window of our room. The service for breakfast and dinner is good and thanks for the recommendation of the staff, Yu, for going to see the Sakura in a castle park nearby. That’s amazing.」

「The night spend at 榮和春蘭之宿 was fantastic. We spent our evening walking through the little community, the street was filled with shops and onsen, view along was amazing!! The resort itself was also very nice, the room was comfortable and cozy. People were welcoming! Also the breakfast and diner served with traditional japanese style food was perfect!」

「昼神温泉のお湯は、まさにサイコー！！ですね。 朝夕のバイキングも、全品網羅したくなるくらい、おいしかったです。 ただ、施設の老朽化で隣や廊下の人達、外の車の音などが丸聞こえで残念でした。 GWで混んでいて、川側のお部屋に泊まれなかったのも残念でした」

「20mins walk to the karuizawa station, it only costs around 1000yen for a taxi ride. Dinner is a must try here, very delicious and decent traditional Japanese cuisine. Room size is okay, just the public bath is a bit too small. 」

「The hotel room is very nice and clean. Also very convenient for skier as there is separate ski locker and dryer room entrance after you back from the ski resort. The dinner and breakfast is impressive and delicious! Last but not least, there is onsen in the hotel which refresh us for the next day’s snowboarding.」

「There are no private showers at this property. This may not be an issue for most people, but I read a misleading review which made me book this property thinking there were private showers and that is NOT the case. The shower is a combined 4 person shower and tub you can soak in afterwards. The breakfast was amazing and I highly recommend it if you have the option.
