“A standrad double bed room with toliet inside. The room is small but really clean. Get in with key. There are two gates on the ground floor with one needs your room key to open. The staffs are nice. A big and comfortable open kitchen in the ground floor. The staff told my that the public area is cleaned every night. ”
“Love everything about this hotel near Ninenzaka. Love the tatami floor that came with our room. Very zen. Altho no pools/gym. I dont think u need that in Kyoto. Laundry room and microwave is very convenient to use. Love the smell of the hotel in the lobby. If ur looking for a hotel to stay at in Kyoto. This is ittttttttt”
“Pretty good on the whole. Location is the biggest advantage of this hotel. Amenities including hot water pot are available. Most impressed is that disposable paper cups are provided so no hygiene concern. On the other hand, carpet in the room is a bit strained and wifi is slow…. ”
"When me and my companion arrived Ohara bus station, we informed the minshuku and the staff arrived quickly and picked us up. He was very nice and explained to us what we could do around the small town. It was the season of firefly sighting so we decided to explore the town at night, he noticed that me and my companion was wearing short sleeves and quickly told us to wear a jacket to protect us from insect bites, he even lend us a torch as it was quite dark on the streets. Even though we couldn’t communicate very well in English, I felt the warmth and hospitality of the staff.
As for the spaces of the minshuku, the design is quite traditional, we love it as we could experience the essence traditional Japanese architecture (especially the garden!) The outdoor onsen was a surprise, taking a bath in the nature surrounded by the forest is an unforgettable experience and we really enjoyed it.
We ordered dinner and breakfast, both meals are simple yet full of characteristic, especially their home made miso paste. The dining area is next to the garden, we enjoyed our meals with the sight of nature.
Overall, the whole experience is very homely and the staffs are friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend others to stay at Ohara no Sato or come visit as a getaway from the busy city life of Kyoto and enjoy the beautiful countryside of Ohara. "
