Banana Wind Oceanfront Home ~ Private Beach, Snorkeling, Kayaks, Stunning Views
10/10 Excellent
"5/5 – Perfect Oceanfront EscapeWe had an amazing stay at the Banana Wind beach cottage on Cat Island. The location is truly unbeatable—private, peaceful, and just steps from our very own stretch of pristine beach. Every morning we woke up to turquoise water, and we could snorkel right out front where we spotted parrot fish, grouper, snappers, rays, and so much more along the beautiful reefs. The cottage’s caretaker was incredibly kind and helpful, giving us great tips on other gorgeous, secluded beaches to explore around the island. The owners recently added Starlink internet which was great for reliable internet when we did want to use it. We absolutely loved the laid-back island atmosphere—no crowds, no noise, just pure relaxation. At night, the sky was breathtaking; with no light pollution, we could see millions of stars and even the Milky Way.Banana Wind is truly a hidden gem. We highly recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a quiet, authentic island getaway, and we can’t wait to return!"

"We had a great stay! Nancy was easy to communicate with and answered questions promptly. Nikki was great with on island support. The house was as advertised, comfortable, clean and all we could ever ask for! The kitchen was well appointed and we cooked our own meals almost exclusively. There were beach chairs, umbrellas and kayaks. Now for a quick island reality check. Cat island is not Nassau, Cancun or Miami. We have been there 4 times now. If you are looking for glitz, glam or fancy meals or even things like smooth roads and electricity that is for sure 24/7 then you may want to go someplace else. If you want land crab and hermit crab adventures, fishing, history, sunrises and sunsets and endless beaches to explore then jump in and go ASAP! "
"The perfect vacation home depends on what your perfect vacation is. This was MY perfect vacation home. We wanted comfort, and seclusion and we got it! We stayed early November of 2025 and never saw more than two people out walking the beach. There are a couple other homes within view but they were empty. The deck looking out over the ocean was definitely a highlight but the inside was very nice also. The upstairs and downstairs can be rented separately but we rented both just to make sure we were alone. Also there is some snorkeling stuff in the garage (accessed from the upstairs unit and more in a closet in the downstairs unit. A couple things to be aware of. You have to buy drinking water and ice for drinks since the house water is only for bathing. Also the house is quite a drive from almost all stores and restaurants so buy plenty of supplies before going there. Spend time on google earth getting familiar with the island and where some of the stores and food places are. There are two main grocery stores and both are ok but we liked Gilberts better. And while we didnt explore lots of places to eat we loved Hidden Treasures with chef Trevor. It takes quite a while to get your food so i recommend calling your order in an hour early or take your swimsuits and swim in the calm crystal clear water right outside his backdoor while you wait. The property manager lana was great and very responsive to amy questions we had. "

"The property is beautiful and we enjoyed our stay. However, the listing was a bit misleading—only one bedroom and the bunkhouse were accessible, not the three bedrooms and baths advertised. There was no access to a washer/dryer, and the upstairs shower had very low water pressure. The upstairs bedroom and bathroom also lacked window coverings, which made privacy an issue. That said, the host was responsive and assured us these concerns would be addressed with the property manager."
"One of the most beautiful places ever. Bring long sleeves and pants if you are someone who is irritates by sand fly bites-- regular deet wont cut it! Meal there was lovely-- perfect spot!!"
