「The staff at Spearfish Canyon Lodge and Roughlock Falls Restaurant never tried to charge me a fee to use my Visa DEBIT card! The restaurant Cheyenne Crossing did try and charge me a fee to use my debit card, which is a federal offense. Different rules apply to charge card vs. debit cards. Thank you to Spearfish Canyon Lodge! A classy comforting experience!」

「I will say, the only reason I am not giving this a better rating is because nowhere on the website or when we made the reservation were we told that the hotel was undergoing extensive renovations, and the key amenities we were looking for (namely the swimming pool for our kids, and the hot fresh breakfasts) were not going to be available. I don't care how friendly the staff is, or how nice the rooms, when this level of restriction is not publicized prior to booking, it is an extremely poor look...

「TL;DR - STAY AT YOUR OWN RISK! Booked a "Queen, Jetted Tub" room for 5 nights (normal corner tub, not heart shaped one). When I arrived, I was put into a "Deluxe King Room". I was told that they didn't have any of the tub rooms available but there 'might' be one tomorrow. In the "Deluxe King" the smoke detector was ripped off the ceiling, the wall paper panels were pulled off the wall, but not quite enough to be fully removed. 「We didn't like the floorplan of the room. The vanity area outside of the toilet/shower room was too small and the vanity was too low. The door to the shower/toilet room opened inward so that it blocked the shower door. It was just all too small. The hallways outside the rooms were narrow and scratched up. The ceiling in the breakfast area needed repair, the paint was peeling off. The breakfast was marginal at best. The elevator was too small and hard to get a luggage cart in. We wouldn't...

「We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights with our dogs. 1st impression of walking into the hotel was not good. Looked dirty and run down. The front desk staff said as few words to us as possible. She wasn't rude, just not helpful. She asked our name. We let her know we were traveling with 2 dogs. She handed us the paperwork for the dogs and told us to fill it out.
