Of Wilfrid's Benedictine abbey, which was constructed almost entirely of material salvaged from nearby Roman ruins. Stayed over New Year and decided to stay and extra night as we felt so comfortable as staff and food were good. Room was a little small for a 'premium ' but adequate. The bar/ lounge is great, lovely fires and a lot of residents brought their dog, the staff engaged with all👍👍. Look forward to seeing ...

Lovely quite place to stay
This is a lovely quiet place to stay, away from any disturbances. The welcome homemade lemon drizzle cake was very welcome and a nice touch. Beautiful scenery during the day and very dark skies at night for stargazing
