Great Vacation Stay at La Joya #4

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This was our 2nd stay at La Joya. Years ago stayed in #1. The service is just as a good or better than our last trip. The condo was freshly updated and nice bright colors. Very comfortable and safe. The staff is very helpful. We rented bikes for our 11 night stay as we didn't have a car. We didn't take any day trips this time and just relaxed on the beach. I would stay here again.

We like to cook for ourselves, so I would recommend on update to the knife set (very dull) and to the pots and pans. But that's trivial compared to the comfort, beautiful ocean view, direct access to great snorkling- all in a very safe, gated neighbor hood.

Fabulous Beach Condo

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We recently enjoyed a 10 day stay in this wonderful unit. It was very nicely furnished and comfortable. The kitchen was very well equipped with everything we needed. Comfortable bed. Everything was very clean with attentive service. Gorgeous view from the balcony. Nice pool and beach area. Just a short walk to the little convenience store, a little hike into town but doable. And just a short walk to happy hour at La Buena Vida. Highly recommend this unit. Can’t wait until our next stay!

Netflix couldn’t load or if it did it would have to reload numerous times during a movie. Took hours to load to even start a movie. Don’t use smart tv and Netflix as an amenity. It’s NOT!

Beautiful view, helpful staff but multiple maintenance issues

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This unit had a beautiful oceanview on the second floor, was clean and in a quiet area and the grounds and pool were well maintained. The on-site staff was wonderful and very helpful and we felt safe that there seemed to always be someone on-site. We were able to snorkel in the bay tight in front of the building, and were within close walking distance to several restaurants, and about a 25 min walk to Akumal Beach 'town'. Unfortunately, we had multiple issues during our 3 night stay that brings up a bigger concerns about maintenance in the unit and building.Soon after we arrived, our first issue was that the latch of the patio door lock fell off as we were closing the patio door. Staff were great at looking at it within 10 min, figured it needed a replacement part and were back within 30-45 min to replace it. The next day we noticed we ran out of water in all taps as we were about about to leave, and mentioned it to staff as we left but they mentioned someone was on the way to fix it, and it was fixed by the time we returned several hours later. The day after, during a thunderstorm, we noticed that a large puddle of water was accumulating in front of the patio door. As we did not want to slip on it, we placed a towel to seep up the water.Lastly, and most concerning was when the electricity went out in half our condo. We thought it must be a breaker and someone was able to come up and try to reset it, but it did not work and they had to call someone else in. During that time, little zap noises could be heard every few seconds from the breaker area which was disconcerting. We went out for awhile and told them it was okay to continue to work on it and returned late to be told it was fixed, but it was still not working. We told them it could wait until morning, but over night the lights that were out would intermittently flash on for a split second every 20-30 minutes or so. Just perfect!

My husband and I enjoyed our time at the La Joya in Akumal. We absolutely loved the location of our condo. It was walking distance to the public beach (national park), lots of restaurants, and Yal-Ku cenote. The staff were very helpful and accommodating. We bought groceries at the super-mini down the road and took advantage of the well appointed kitchen. If you like more privacy and space than a crowded resort, the La Joya might be just perfect for you, too.

Paradise on Half Moon Bay

We found the size of the condo perfect for the two of us - and the location right on the water can't be beat. The daily maid service was extensive and consistent, and we appreciated all of the condo amenities provided. We will hopefully be back again!

Interesting that 2 of this property reviews from 2022, from 2 different months, 2 different names are exactly worded the same Well I did stay here. My stay was poor. Bugs in the kitchen,faulty appliance, etc. Management had excuses for each. Old furniture. Pool was very nice. Had Netflix. Would not recommend this Condo

Fantastic snorkeling & very clean room

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We were really impressed with our stay at La Joya. We snorkeled for up to 4 hours a day and there was tons to explore. Great reefs and marine variety just steps into the ocean. We were blessed with great weather and calm waters for our January trip, but I was glad to have a shorty wetsuit as it would have gotten a bit cold in the water without it. The room was beautiful, festive with fantastic views and may have been the cleanest room we have rented for awhile. They even did the dishes we hadn't gotten to when they cleaned the room for the day. I highly recommend getting around by bike so you don't have to worry about parking if going into Akumal bay. Everything was much closer by bike than I expected. Great time and wonderful stay!

Clean, nice condo in a quiet neighborhood

The condo is right on the beach, very clean, updated large shower, comfortable bed. The kitchen is tiny, but well equipped. Coffee for coffee maker is provided. Clean water is provided. Shampoo, soap and hand soap are provided. For me the only thing missing in the kitchen was a teapot. (Maybe I just did not find it). The furniture in living room is a bit dated, but in good condition. The table on the balcony is old and plastic is piling off. In the building, there 6 rooms: 3 2 bedrooms and 3 1 bedrooms. It creates a very intimate environment. The crew takes good care of the building, rooms, beach and pool. The cleaning crew comes every day and do great job! Maintenance/ pool guy cleans the beach of seaweed every morning. Out of all, the buildings in half moon bay, he is only one who actually cleaned it out and everyday. At night, there is a security guard at the building. The area is very safe. There are two restaurants on the beach within short walking distance. One is only 3 houses away. Great snorkeling right in the bay. Bring water shoes, bottom is rocky Over great stay.
