Top Alva Hotel Reviews

The Stirling Highland Hotel

8/10 Good

"Enjoyed our stay as it was conveniently situated. Some aspects of the hotel were tired and needed some attention such as the bathroom in the bedroom and the gym. Lighting was poor in the bedroom and the bed (2 x singles put together) was lopsided. Staff were friendly. The bar was quite cold so we took our drinks down to the reception area which had comfy chairs and was warmer. Needed to pay £10 a day parking as I’d booked through a third party rather than directly with the hotel. Overall however, none of these things would put me off staying here again."

Richmond Park Hotel

8/10 Good

"Nice location if you have a car. Parking is free and there's plenty of space. Edinburgh airport and city, the bridges and the Kelpies are a short drive away. Rooms are comfortable and clean. Service is good. There is a pub and a restaurant on site, and the food is good. A petrol station with a convenience store is just around the corner. On the downside, some rooms are difficult to reach with heavy luggage (up several flights of stairs in narrow corridors), and the wifi signal is very weak there. Nevertheless, it's great value for money, and I would definitely stay here again."

Macdonald Houstoun House

10/10 Excellent

"The bed was brilliant, very comfortable and relaxing after my wife and myself finished trawling round edinburgh. The staff were all very polite and efficient with their work, either directing us to where we needed to be or the speed of service at breakfast. The decor of the hotel was great as well, gave a real rustic cosy feel to our stay, exactly the sort of hotel my wife and myself tend to go for, especially liked the his and hers chairs in our room with the table in the center, gave us a relaxing place to sit, have a few drinks and cake before bed while watching some re runs of top of the pops on the TV in the room. The shower and bathroom was very nice as well, fairly powerful shower and a good sized mirror for my wife to get ready in before we headed out for our dinner. Will definitely be wanting to book here again next time we head over to edinburgh."

Glasgow Westerwood Spa & Golf Resort

10/10 Excellent

"The staff were friendly and mostly helpful. However, I had told them i was unable to walk far and unable to climb stairs. Whilst there were no stairs, we were on the top floor and as far away from the restaurant and reception as possible. They couldn't get a different room."
