“We loved our two nights stay at Melfort House. It was peaceful idyll that restored us somewhat as we were nearing the end of our road trip through Scotland. Matthew is a wonderful host, and we felt welcome in his home. The breakfast offerings were top notch, and our room and bed were so comfortable. The location was perfect for a day trip to nearby Oban, which should not be missed, particularly for the seafood and Oban Distillery tour. “The room and facilities are old looking and small. Especially for the bathroom. But the beds are clean and tidy and provide car parking. ”

“Great B&B . Everything we needed for an overnight stay in Oban before heading to the ferry to Mull .Very convenient and good fitness waking up the hill to the property . Taxi if not inclined to walk up hills . Really nice touch to have the breakfast cereals , juice and yogurt . Thank you .”

“The hotel and our room was visually well decorated and quirky. Our room was unreasonably hot without the heater even being on. The temperature outside being approximately 13o. We could not open our window as some sort of generator was right outside. Noisey and possibly the source of the heat in our room?? The breakfast was again visually gorgeous and the breakfast selections ample.”

“Poor standard overall. Lift broken - had to climb several flights of stairs which was difficult as I have arthritis. Room ok but needed some talc. Parking inadequate as 11 spaces and 41 rooms. Breakfast was very poor, little choice for those who do not eat fry ups. Asked for alternative- scrambled eggs, but not available apparently. Toilets in the public area were dirty . Definitely not a 4 star hotel”

“The room had everything we needed, it was quaint & convenient. The kitchen / breakfast setup was perfect for doing our own cooking and purchasing just what we needed - a few eggs. I look forward to staying again the next time I’m in Oban!”

“Park in the railway station carpark. The accommodation building is first left in the carpark under the metal stairs. It's £24 for 24 hours parking but worth it as room and parking still is less than most accommodation in Oban which also do not have onsite parking. Onsite parking at hotels is rare to find in Oban and every where else's room rate is double almost, which is a lot more expensive. The location is perfect. I was on the ground floor. Noise not an issue and I went to bed at 11pm and……
