The food and drink are amazing! It is a beautiful setting over looking the lake. They have their own farm on sight and we were able to visit the animals--including baby pigs and horse. Highly recommend!

Great stay for 6 days nights. Great friendly staff and the food and beer are solid. Fabalous view of lake arenal. The grounds are hilly and steep in some places, but couple of very nice trails. Lots of animals: dogs, cows, goats etc which for me is always welcome. The owner J.P. is a riot and great to talk to. Wealth of knowledge about the area and Costa Rica in general.

I chose this hotel due to it's proximity to the Liberia airport. I wasn't finished acquiring my rental car until 1700 hrs and did not want to drive 3 or 4 more hours to La Fortuna or Monteverde. It served as my base for Lake Arenal Catamaran tour, Viento Fresco waterfall hike (which is changing it's name to Manakin Waterfall Nature Reserve), and a day at Treetopia hanginging bridges in Monteverde. The hot tub was a great way to relax after a days adventure. You could even pull off a Scandanavian type spa treatment alternating the hot tub and the cool pool for a hot/cold treatment. There are water activities, such as windsurfing and kayaking nearby on Lake Arenal. The hotel also has a beautiful view of Lake Arenal and has a 1 km hiking trail on it's property. The gardens around the hotel are amazing. The brewery was the first brewery in Costa Rica. The owner JP and his son are the brewers and JP has achieved Master of Brewing Art. He will gladly give you a tour of the brewery. Allison and Jose were very friendly bartenders, both speaking good english. Allison makes an excellent spicy margarita. All the staff were excellent,the rooms were clean, and the bed was very comfortable. All in all it was a very good stay.

Wonderful place to stay. It is in a rural setting over looking the lake. It was fun to stay right at the brewery. Lots of wildlife hanging out in the area. Food was very good. The owner was around and very friendly. He even joined us for breakfast to continue to have a conversation. Highly recommend staying here

Good place to stay for one night if you are driving through to La Fortuna and need a stop before the longer drive. There isn’t much to do around this area, without a lot of driving. As a result, we abandoned our pre-paid second night to get closer to La Fortuna. The hotel is fine. No AC. No shampoo/condition. No hairdryer. The beer at the brewery was okay, but we live in a spoiled location at home with excellent beer. The free breakfast was great. Dinner was just okay: pizza eh, and curry chicken was rubbery. The indoor hot tub wasn’t running a filter and was not hot. It wasn’t at all appealing to get in, so we did not. The grounds are nice and charming. A little pig ran past our door with great delight to us. There were also 3 dogs on site that were friendly and adorable. Staff was very nice. We entered our room to a (large) dead bug surrounded by ants, which made us uncomfortable. Without air conditioning, the room was 100% moist and not comfortable for sleeping. I did not venture to unpack and kept everything off the floor. The water was not hot enough to my liking in the shower. Overall, location was convenient but uneventful. Staff was great. Room was not spectacular, even though the layout would have been stellar with 2 full bedrooms and a kitchen in the middle. We just didn’t want to spend any time in there. We did love playing pool while sampling their beers. Stay for one night.

Starting with the positives: we had a lake view room, and the view was excellent, everyone in the family really enjoyed it. The staff was also very helpful and friendly. The hotel itself is quite old and has a two-level layout, with one level below grade, which is understandable. However, the corridors are very dark even during the daytime, making the space feel gloomy. We also noticed a few bugs in the room. While some bugs are expected in a tropical rainforest setting, we’ve stayed at other hotels in similar environments that manage this much better. In Costa Rica especially, effective ventilation, lighting, and pest control are important. This hotel would benefit greatly from addressing these issues.
