The Hotel Illa is a good budget place in Angra. The rooms were cleaned each day and a good basic breakfast is provided. It is right in the heart of the Old town and close to the Marina. The staff were great! The negatives: No parking, needs some maintenance (peeling paint, rough closing doors etc) Can also be noisy in the mornings with pigeons and sliding furniture and banging doors. Still a good choice if you are not looking a 5*

Mold in first room and a mold smell, they moved me to another room that also had mold but I dealt with it because there was no smell. Very mediocre breakfast for the price they charge. Staff not very friendly and I didn’t feel the location was super safe as other people staying left the front door open late at night and I could hear men screaming in the lobby almost every night. Probably not great for solo travellers, in hindsight I would spend a bit more money to get a safer place.

Incredible view of the SANJOANINAS events and parades. Walking distance from all restaurants. The staff were friendly. A great place!

Definitely on my list

This place is a hidden gem! The front desk personnel were friendly and professional. Small boutique hotel but very nice. My room was clean, comfortable and as pictured. The breakfast was very basic, but satisfying. Water available all day which is nice in the summer. Oh the location... better than i could ever ask. 5 min walk to water and a beach. Near shopping and places to eat. Very safe location. Highly recommend.

Loved this hotel and it’s location right in the heart of this UNESCO town. The building next door was under construction so the workers woke us up very early every morning but it’s very peaceful in the evening. Would definitely recommend this place if you don’t have a car because you can walk everywhere quite easily. We rented a car directly from the hotel and the price was less than other places in the area and we were able to drop the car off at the airport without any additional costs.
