  • The Lookerer offers a shepherds hut experience like no other! Offering cosy accommodation for 2, set in the most wonderful of locations on the Romney Marsh amongst nature and fields of lambs and sheep. This really is a place to unwind, relax and switch off..... There is also so much to see and do on your doorstep, countryside walks galore and if you fancy a trip to the coast the wonderful sandy beach of Dymchurch is only 10 minutes drive. You really must stay here to believe it's tranquility!


    Living area with wood burning stove, wooden folding table and chairs for 2

    Kitchen with 2 ring electric hob, fridge, sink, toaster, Nespresso coffee machine

    Sleeping Area with a double bed, underbed storage, coat rail, double aspect windows with blinds

    Shower Room with an overhead shower, wash basin, heated towel rail, w.c.

    Garden with a sheep proof fence surrounding a seating area with wooden chairs, fire pit/BBQ.



    Private parking for 1 car

    The hut is heated via the wood burning stove and an electric radiator

    Towels and linen are provided, as well as bath robes and slippers
    A starter supply of logs is provided, further logs available at a cost of £5 per sack
    If you would like a locally sourced breakfast box which comprises of 4 x bacon rashers,4 x sausages, 4 x eggs, 1 x small loaf of bread please request this with your booking. There is an additional cost of £15.
    Included with every stay is tea, coffee, jam & marmalade and a bottle of wine, all from local businesses.
    Unfortunately due to the surrounding sheep dogs are not permitted.
    ​Please note check in is 3pm and check out is 10am.

    We recommend you bring the following:
    All weather clothes – for the cooler evenings around the fire pit
    Wellies – the fields can get muddy!
    Phone/Camera to capture those special moments

A must stay!

We’re massive fans of four in the bed and this stay did not disappoint. The location is superb and tranquil with pubs close by for dining. We stayed in the lookerer and this shepherd hut had everything you’ll need! We made the most of the amenities provided and had one of the best night’s sleep we’ve had when staying away from home. The host was accommodating with late check out, checking in information and even provided us with the opportunity to get closer to the lambs.

Amazing

We came for our 10 year anniversary and It was the best staycation I’ve ever had. So natural, peaceful, enjoyable and a real break from reality. We had the best time and the little details are so thought out even down to all the info you’re sent before your stay that you can save as an app to your phone. The lambs are the cutest especially when they get zoomies of an evening. Bed was super comfy. The food boxes are lovely too. 10/10 and will be returning

Stunning cozy weekend surrounded by sheep!

Me and my Partner stayed at Lookerer Shepards hut for two nights! Kristina and her family have the most beautiful land filled with sheep, lambs, cows and chickens, incredible views of Kent’s country side. The shepherds hut was well equipped everything you need and also items which makes the stay feel home from home. As a sheep lover this was the most perfect weekend, watching sunsets with a book and waking up in the morning looking out to a crowd of sheep and little lambs was truly magical. We were so very lucky for Kristina to let us bottle feeds a few of their lambs during our stay which makes the experience even more special and wholesome. Before our visit to Romney Marsh we were giving lots of information about the shepherds huts, activities around, what was included in our stay and what we would need to bring which was very helpful. The BBQ bundle was delicious and would recommend highly. The bed in the hut was very comfortable, shower was lovely and the bathrobes made it feel cosy. I can’t thank Kristina, family and team enough, making us feel so welcome and our stay memorable and so much fun! Will definitely be returning to stay again!

Place for a perfect time off

We enjoyed every second in our lovely shepherd‘s hut. We loved being in the middle of the flock of sheep which we found extremely calming and relaxing. The hut is wonderfully decorated and eqipped with everything you might need. And a good starting point for hikes. A great time off!

Lovely place

A lovely place to stay, the vieuws are stunning, we were fortunate with the weather. Nice walks in the area, not to hard, and flat! No climbing! We will come back to explore Romney Marsh a bit more. And the shop is nirvana for knitters!

Amazing stay

What an amazing stay very cosy and welcoming, everything you need is provided. I stayed for one night with my fiancé but could have been there for longer it feels so like home, the bbq/fire makes this place even more special to be outdoors, lenny the sheep is very friendly but the only one who likes any kind of attention the other sheep keep their distance, the chickens joined us in the morning what an unforgettable Experience we will be returning 100% , we also checked out the Christmas market recommended from the owner and it was great for something to do the following day with lots of handmade stuff to buy

Amazing value for the views and service provided!

We had the best weekend stay in The Lookerer shepherds hut and couldnt recommend it to enough people! The interior was decorated beautifully, making it feel very homely and cosy - even on a sweltering weekend in June! The surroundings are stunning and every detail had been thought of - down to the marshmallows for the fire. Thank you again for having us & we hope to be back soon!

Great stay in beautiful surroundings!

Lovely one night stay and a beautiful setting. Super cosy! We would have loved a later check out rather than 10am as we felt quite rushed to leave. We didn’t have anything to put our dirty linen in but everything else was just perfect!!

Super short stay!

Fantastic location, really comfy bed, we would definitely stay again! We had a few questions and they got back to us in an instant. Most importantly is that it’s one of the most beautiful parts of the marsh and you’re right in the middle of it! You can almost smell the smugglers groaning as they carry their loot through the soggy channels.

Lovely stay in a shepherds hut

Thank you for a lovely stay! The view was very special with the sun rising/setting over the fields. The sheep were in the same field and around us lots of the time which was lovely. We had a nice walk around the field, The shepherds hut was very special, clean and beautiful. We cooked breakfast in the morning on the hob. We had wood for the fire pit and it was nice and warm in the shepherds hut. Thank you for a very special stay Kristina and for letting us stay a little longer!

Lived up to it's description

We loved our one-night stay in the Lookerer. It was everything I hoped it would be. Space is obviously at a premium and as an older couple (mid 70's) we don't travel lightly, but we managed to cope with a small but carefully though out space. The bed was particularly comfortable, and the shower room/toilet was a revelation (I never imagined you would get such a good shower in a Shepherd's hut). We had the promised sheep all around us, and as each side of the hut has a window we really did feel we were right in the midst of them. Lovely open countryside with "big skies". Arrival information and support was excellent.

Great weekend

We rented the 2 huts that are close together yet retain perfect privacy. We had a great weekend enjoying glorious sunshine and torrential rain. How nice to be so warm and snug and listen to that rain! There was room to enjoy supper together in one hut and then traipse home the 15 steps to our own abode. Stunning views, gorgeous sheep and the sea nearby. Perfection. Thank you.

Great Place

Great place right in the middle of a field fall off sheep(although they cleared of next day and were seen only in the distance) the new born lambs were in barn and you could feed them plus Larry the lamb was very vocal when you went near and wanted moof bottle.The sheperds hut very good every thing you would need and more plus the staff couldn't have been more helpful.Plenty to do round about although I had trouble contacingt the Jeep safari people they didn't reply when I tried to contact them(twice). All in all a great little break!!
