1. Portside Inn Hakodate

Hakodate

"Very smooth check-in. The place was really beautiful. The location was good, too. Quick walk to the red brick area. 20 minute walk to the ropeway. We were there in June, and didn't need to use the fire place, but the smell of woodsmoke was there. During winter, you expect the smell of wood burning, for sure, but I was not expecting that in June. However it didn't bother us since it was kind of like staying at a camping site. Just wondered if this might not be great for some people sensitive to...

"We had a really lovely time here, and it was a perfect retreat after the busy atmosphere of Tokyo! The atmosphere of Hakodate is reminiscent of places like the Oregon Coast and Fairbanks, Alaska, that is, a slow-paced town in a cool climate with wonderful museums and historical sites related to indigenous community (in this case, the Ainu and other neighboring cultures) and a strong connection to the sea. The star-shaped Goryokuko was a unique stop we could have explored further. And I should...

Top Assabu Hotel Reviews

Tokyu Stay Hakodate Asaichi Akarinoyu

10/10 Excellent

"The view from the lounge was fantastic! I enjoyed watching the cruise ships docking. The property is close to the JR train station as well as being adjacent to the morning market. Loved having a washer in the room which was very convenient for my 6 day stay. It would have been more comfortable if they could clean the room and change the bed sheets at least once every three days which is standard practice instead of once every seven days which is too long."

Hakodate Kokusai Hotel

8/10 Good

"温泉が良かったです。フロントの対応はスタッフによってまちまち。私が当たった人はチェックインの時もチェックアウトの時も怒ったような表情だったけど。何となくハラハラするからフロントの人の対応は大事だと思います。"

Hotel ＆ Spa Century Marina Hakodate

10/10 Excellent

"The breakfast buffet was amazing and the variety allows you to do a full our Japanese food in one place! The hotel is beautiful on the inside and the rooms are definitely in the upper echelon of size that can be found in Hakodate! One more plus...wait for it....THEY HAVE A FITNESS CENTER! This is probably the only hotel in Hakodate that actually took the time to accommodate the fitness minded tourists! I travel to Hakodate probably 2 times a year and this will be my hotel that I stay at for all of my future stays. This hotel is amazing!"
