Austin Vacay is What is Wrong With Airbnb

I've used Airbnb for the past decade, all around the world. This was my first and last time renting from a corporate entity marketing inside the system. Prior to this, I always rented from individuals, which I presumed was the spirit of Airbnb. Now there are companies like Austin Vacay that are buying up hundreds of homes in markets where average workers can no longer afford to rent and pushing people out with reckless abandonment. It's sad that this is what has happened to Airbnb. Also, the company's staff was dismissive and argumentative when I shared my concerns about the rental. The fact that they charge for early check in/ late check out but send multiple emails asking guests to check in later / check out early without remuneration speaks volumes. Austin Vacay is greedy. It is what is wrong with Airbnb and the housing market in general. I hope it devours itself.

Family weekend

Great location and home. Comfy furniture, great layout of home, quiet neighborhood. Everything a 10 -15 minute drive so very easy to get around town. This is one of the best places we've rented on vrbo!

Host was very responsive including when I asked to modify the dates of the trip and also requested to rent a pack n play for my baby to sleep in. The house was as advertised, a great size for me and my family. They also provided basics including ample amounts of shampoo/conditioner/soap, laundry detergent and dryer sheets, dish washer detergent, Folgers coffee and coffee filters, etc., which we greatly appreciated.

Great place - fantastic yard!

Great Location! Fabulous Outdoor Space!

We would definitely stay here again! It was like being at home ...with every convenience needed at your fingertips - including an ice maker! Comfortable beds and a fabulous yard with two fire pits were a plus. Not to mention, if you have a dog you can bring it with. Thanks for making this property available in Austin! It made our trip a success.

The backyard was our favorite place to be. It was so peaceful. Loved the property.

Everything was great. The kitchen had everything we needed. Our favorite part was the backyard and fire pit. The owners had lots of chairs and it was such a serene retreat. We had coffee by the fire pit in the mornings, and drinks in the evening. Really enjoyed our stay.

Great House & Locatiom

Our family enjoyed the home. The location is excellent and the backyard is wonderful. We will definitely book again in the near future. Only small issue is the washer was covered in mold and had a terrible odor. We did not use is as it did not look sanitary at all. I did let the owner know and received a prompt response that it would be addressed.

Excellent location

The location was excellent and the primary reason we decided to stay here. Aside from rush hour, you could get to many Austin locations in around 10 minutes. The house was very nice overall, but we had some minor issues with cleanliness of the coffee maker, dishes, silverware, etc that we've not had at lower cost VRBO's. Interface with the management company was a bit clunky as I had to call to get the access code after check in and prove that VRBO had already charged me for a pet fee. Quickly resolved, but stay on top of the details of your confirmation if you reserve through VRBO.

Great location but could use some TLC

We stayed a week at this home and the location couldn’t have been more perfect to get around Austin. We are local to the area and needed a place to stay and get around easily. Overall the home is great. We stay in a lot of vacation rentals and own/manage two of our own. Cleanliness, organization and communication are the most important things to me as a host and as a a guest. The home was surface clean but needs a deep cleaning and a refresh (dusty old drapes and throw pillows and dust under the beds). It took four days to get a hold of the manager (we needed to try to extend our stay). There are at least 6 cameras (3 in the front and 3 in the back) one of which can definitely see in the kitchen. I’m sure it’s just for security but it really felt very invasive and excessive and I’m sure could be accomplished with less (especially in the back where you’d like to relax). Also a very nice lady came by (unannounced) one morning around 8am to water the plants. Overall it had the potential to be a great rental but the management needs to address these things….had I been able to reach them easily I would have let them know.
