"Absolutely immaculate cottage. Clean, beautifully decorated and furnished and facilities fantastic. A perfect place for a very quiet getaway. It's also a brilliant base for exploring the surrounding area. The cottage is in a very quiet, peaceful village which is perfect for a get away from it all break but you will need to drive for restaurants shops etc. There is one pub and a village store for the basics. There are lovely countryside walks from the cottage. We would definitely recommend and use this cottage again."

"We found Bolthole Retreats from a web search, therefore a little sceptical at first, however, now using the site we found it to be very professional with a very useful “manage my booking” section with all the info you need. Lower Lodge Gatehouse was exceptional. The photos do not do justice to the excellent finish the place has. It was cosy by the fire as the snow fell and can imagine it being wonderful in summer with the outdoor spaces. The steps to the main living area are steep but not a problem for us. The underfloor heating was welcome after taking off our muddy walking boots. Finally if you stay here you must go to The Bridge Inn, very friendly, good food, allows dogs, has local beer, and only 100m from the gatehouse."

"Had a great week with the dogs at Sunnybank even though it was December. We have been a few times now and we always find the house very comfortable. The outside is great for the dogs so they can mooch about or chase their frisbees. The stress of life falls from our shoulders as soon as we arrive. It really is getting away from it all."

"Kentchurch court is a magical place and stayed here for my 60th birthday with family it’s home from home and it’s a beautiful place to spend a weekend with family it’s grounds and court are amazing and gathering of 26 members of the family able to stay and celebrate my birthday weekend.. massive thanks to all of the staff and owners for my cards and gifts too ."

"A Hidden GemWe were looking for a nice place to stay over the New year, one that was comfortable, quiet and had character. We chose Hatterrall Barn and we were not disappointed. The house sleeps 4 in two large bedrooms, each with their own bathroom/shower. The quality of the rooms, beds & fittings was fantastic. Downstairs, there is a great kitchen with everything you need adjoining the living room. The wood burner in the corner of the living room was fantastic although, to be honest, the central heating was so good, you may not need it. Through the rear door, you have a stream running past the house with great views of the hills behind the house. The hot tub, big enough for four, was superb: clean & well maintained. You will find the Barn in a farm complex up a lane. There is another (holiday) house nearby but you would not know there were there, the privacy and quiet was exceptional. Sophia was excellent in communicating with us and the arrival basket of goodies was more than generous. In the area, there are many things to venture out and explore: we would recommend Big Pit (the other side of Abergavenny), Llanthony Priory (which has a great pub/bar within the grounds) and Hereford (esp. the Cathedral).Book it, you will not be disappointed!"

"Fabulous property that is as good if not better than the pictures. Every room is a new surprise & caters for another situation - from the large formal reception rooms to the smaller, cosy snugs. Every bedroom is excellent. Having access to the surrounding deer park allows you to be lord of the manor for the weekend! The house was beautifully prepared by Linda & Helen as housekeepers who also provided a detailed tour on arrival. The property is extremely well equipped- I can't remember ever renting a property with as varied & extensive equipment list. Despite being a large & old property the place was warm with endless hot water. Ideal historic property pwrfect for a big group break."

"Lovely B&B the rooms were spacious and well equipped. The breakfast was delicious and free parking, wi-fi and 10 mins drive to Hereford. The host Lorraine was brilliant and allowed early check in too, as we arrived early. Overall a great experience. Thanks"
