No instructions. Had to contact host for check in & check out. Amenities needed maintenance, i.e. wood burning stove, lack of hot water for bath/shower, loosely attached towel bar (fell off wall easily); lack of amenities (no washcloths or dishrags for one)

Unpleasant experience at this location. The address was hard to find and the exterior of the house was uninviting - overgrown surroundings, untidy porch, and unclear if it was even the right place. Upon entering, we were greeted by a dirty and cluttered interior, with dirty dishes, uneaten food, and unmade beds. The ownersaid cleaners were on the way, but it was already an hour past check-in time. We had to leave and wait for it to be cleaned, but it was still not up to par. The house was cluttered with too much memorabilia, lacked necessities, and had signs of pests (mouse droppings in cupboards and dishes). The fireplace was problematic, filling the house with smoke. The river view is a plus, but the overall experience was disappointing. Would not recommend without significant improvements to cleanliness and maintenance."

I grew up in Eugene and spent many days on the McKenzie River. We’ve been out of state for many years now but still come back to Oregon as often as we can.This was the perfect property to enjoy reminiscing with some of our grown children. Very cozy setting and everything we needed. We caught one of the Pineapple Express storms that I remember growing up and even had a long power outage where we enjoyed the wood stove and improvising. The host was helpful throughout our stay and kept us updated on the power outage.The sound of the river was so therapeutic! The only drawback really was not having more time…we’ll definitely be coming back!

This home is warm and welcoming. It is well supplied and clean. The river is nearby and is soothing to see and hear from the cabin. The host was helpful. A lovely stay and we hope to come again.

Property is a nice setting. The home is full of personal items. No open cabinets to place your items. It feels like you stopped at someone's home, they packed a few cloths and left for your dates. Food in the cupboards and refrigerator. Open boxes of food on top of refrigerator. It was an uncomfortable feeling.

This property was awesome, and the river behind with the sitting area was amazing, one thing I could suggest is to put the address on the roadside as we could not initially find the driveway in. Other than that, beautiful place, thank you

The house is simple with no frills. The kitchen is a good size to work in but little things like mixing bowls were not there. It would have been nice to have ac as it was quite a hot weekend but the river right there on property meant a cool breeze and easy cool down where readily available.

Very nice. Just what we wanted with river access so our mini-Aussie could run down for a victory dunk after fetching like a madman in the backyard Chairs riverside let one of us read by the river and catch his long leash trailing as he jumped into his favorite pool. Just short of a pleasant rapids. Scott lake on scenic highway was a blast swimming and fetching. And hot springs and so on. Thanks!

A little too cabin in the woodsy-feel

Hear me out - this place was quaint and felt like your grandparents cabin in all its quirkiness and old time feel (including all the applicances and tech). Location was fantastic right on the river with a little hangout spot in some sand. What was too much cabin in the woodsy feeling was the the two gravestones visible from the driveway on the way in - and like a review on here mentions, one of them murdered ON THE PROPERTY back in 2001 by his neighbor, who happened to get 25 to life in 2002. As of today he is still in jail but didn’t love that we had to go through that anxiety spiral. Confirmed it on google searches from the name on the gravestone and it honestly made us feel a little uncomfortable- borderline wanted to pack up and leave. Besides that - which understandably isn’t mentioned in the listing, but not a pleasant surprise by any means, it was a solid stay away from the noise.

Beautiful River Setting, But House Needs Serious TLC

The Positives: The McKenzie River setting is undeniably beautiful, with the water just steps from the door. You can sit in an Adirondack chair feet from the river and sip your morning coffee. The TV had Roku, and the bedding felt clean; bedrooms and bathrooms were reasonably maintained.The drawbacks:That said, the home felt poorly cared for. Sponges looked months old, outdoor trash was attracting insects, and there were pest droppings on the deck. Décor and furnishings felt stuck in the early 2000s—there was even food in the cupboards from 2001. Outdoor furniture and blankets seemed equally old, and a strange bird decoy outside looked unsettling. The house gave off a “still lived in” feeling, as if nothing had been sorted through in decades.Communication was minimal—we never received check-in or check-out instructions and when I called, I did not get a return call for almost an hour. Thankfully, we figured it out. It was uncomfortably warm inside, and when I requested another fan, the host said they didn’t have on. The front screen door didn’t fully close, and while the location is secluded, the house itself didn’t feel particularly secure.This isn’t the worst place you could stay, and the river setting is lovely, but if you prefer a well-kept, thoughtfully managed space, you may want to spend a bit more elsewhere.

The proximity and view of the beautiful McKenzie River is amazing at this quaint cabin! The cabin itself has some good points, but also has some room to help guests to have an excellent experience. The decor inside was eclectic, and made for great conversation, but there were too many personal items in the house that could be removed. Some attention to the outdoor area would be nice: a backyard and deck cleanup. We had a great time, because we were together, but our accommodations were just okay.

TV in the bedroom was not hooked up. Notified Host and no action was taken. Lot of overgrown brush and vines around property. If it were mine I would clean out most of the blackberrys and running vines on the outside of the property.

Cute Property with Opportunities

Cute property, beautiful McKenzie river running behind the house. Looks like fresh paint on the front side. We did not receive arrival instructions via email nor on the app, but phone calls were answered. Property does not sit on the road which was nice. The sound of the river was soothing.There were some things that were drawbacks. The screen door wouldn’t stay shut. The house smelled a bit musty but went away when we opened the doors & windows. There was very little dishwashing soap and a dishwasher without dishwashing pods. Appliances are dated but worked well. We did not use the wood burning stove for heat. There were ants in the “master” bath on the ceiling & marching in a line on the floor. A few found their way onto the bed… We notified the owner who sent a pest control guy the day we were checking out. I’m believing it was when he could get out. Fixtures in the hall bathroom are older with the tub’s water pipe not secure. As with another review, the toilet has a “old water ring” around it & the bottom of the tub was stained.Even with these things, our stay was nice. The location is perfect with a couple of general stores, a gas station & restaurants nearby. This is a 3 1/2 star rating…We did not receive check out instructions.
