My son and his friends (17-19) booked for a weekend away. Everything was as listed and they had a great weekend. There were some concerns as the previous renters voiced some concerns but everything was addressed and in good working order. The host followed up to let me know everything was done and also after the weekend to see how the boys weekend was. Overall very pleased with everything
Cottage Binx hosted our two families for a cottage getaway. The cottage was nestled in the woods on the Muskoka river and provided great privacy. The cottage itself was very clean and perfectly accommodated our two families. Our host Tej was excellent in answering any questions we had during our stay, always responding within minutes. The cottage has kayaks, and the kids loved fishing on either the paddle boat or the aluminum rowboat. The fire pit area was awesome for a campfire and roasting marshmallows at night. We hope to be back someday. Thank you cottage Binx!
This property was not as advertised. I can’t recommend it. It seemed as if the owner has not been to the property based off of their comments. We took 28 pictures of damages already at the property when we arrived. Most of which the owner was unaware of. Despite being told that help could be sent out if we had any concerns no one came to fix the broken AC unit. The thermostat had a heat alert on for our whole stay. Very disappointing.

Awful stay not as described
Multiple issue with my groups stay here. To start there was a bag of garbage left outside. Inside dirty rags left on the table with cigarettes buds left on the outside deck. The second bathroom located in the basement not pictured has a door full of black mold and smelt like mildew. It was like the place was not cleaned at all. We actually had to clean up the place when we got there. We had to ask for dish washing pod and paper towels but was only brought dish pod. The pool table had broken cues roughed up felt so that it folds up at the pockets, only one dart to use the dart board. Couldn’t even use the tv as it’s was broken with a line running down the middle. There was no projector to use. THE MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT was the disgusting hot tub which was green water with brown bubbles and scum all over the sides of it as if the water was never changed, when they did someone out to “fix” the problem she did nothing but add chemicals not even wiping down the soap scum so we were unable to use the hot tub at all which is part of the reason booked. All amenities offered were damaged beyond the point of use or just were there. Would never recommend anyone to book. Property owner tried to blamed and previous guest all these issue but the review from June shows this is an on going issue and has and probably won’t be fixed.
**Review of VRBO Cottage Rental: Disappointing Experience**
I regret to say that our recent stay at this cottage was extremely disappointing. It’s hard to know where to begin with the issues we encountered. The previous reviews must be fake because our experience was quite the opposite of what was described.
- **Unkempt Grounds**: The grass looked like it hadn't been cut in ages.
- **Hot Tub Nightmare**: The hot tub was broken, with yellow water that smelled awful.
- **Broken Amenities**: The TV was smashed, there were no darts for the dartboard, and the pool cues were unusable. The pool table's felt looked like a worn-out tennis ball from the '80s.
- **Musty Basement**: The basement, where the pool table and dartboard were located, smelled extremely musty.
- **Inaccessible Management**: The laminated pages for cottage tips and contact numbers were outdated. Calls directed us to someone in the USA who no longer managed the property and provided us with the old owner's number. Attempts to reach the new owner were unsuccessful.
- **Poorly Stocked**: Basic kitchen and cottage supplies were minimal to nonexistent.
- **BBQ Issues**: The "state-of-the-art" BBQ was a cheap model that could be bought at Walmart for $200. It lacked a scraper, so old food was caked onto the grill.
- **Moldy Hammock**: The hammock by the fire pit was riddled with mold and unusable.
The pictures and description of this cottage are misleading. For 2700 for a day and a half this was brutal.
