"We had a lovely one night stay in August, booked for a Balloon ride locally. The annexe is attached to the owners house but perfectly private. Set in a small courtyard and garden, the walk up the wooden staircase leads to a secret and very private BBQ and wooded area with fabulous views by day and magical, twinkling fairy lights at night. The property had a cosy, luxurious feel throughout with a well-equipped kitchen and a spotless, spacious shower room. The basket of local goodies for breakfast...

"It was a very nice stay with an excellent couple. Warm welcomed. A very nice big dog was also present to welcome. I had to say hello to the dog as he was so friendly. Very cooperative host. Family environment. Residence is upstairs like three rooms and bathroom outside the rooms. Mostly quiet. Nice and clean and a proper communication with the host throughout my stay. I was invited warmly to have breakfast but had no time. Will miss this stay."

"The Coal Exchange is a lovely old building which has been turned into a hotel with large bedrooms and bathrooms.
The bed was comfortable although there was some wear showing on the headboard/ wall behind the bed(room 143).
The bathroom had a large Jacuzzi bath and a rainfall shower. The toiletries provided smelt gorgeous!
There were two large windows looking out onto the road beside the hotel which was surprisingly quiet. Unfortunately, because the weather was extremely hot and there was no air conditioning the room was warm, especially overnight. There was a fan and we left the windows but it still was difficult to sleep.
Breakfast was good, with plenty of hot and cold choices on the self service buffet. The pain au chocolat and croissant were particularly good, far better than usual hotel standards and I enjoyed a gooseberry yoghurt and choice of cheese!
All the staff were helpful and we were able to park outside the hotel because parking is only paid between 8am and 6pm."
"Lovely big, clean room and friendly, accommodating staff. Breakfast was nice. Expect slightly faded grandeur rather than a modern property. Good value for money."
"So wasn’t told until I checked in and paid in full that the air conditioning was broken, so I spent 2 nights trying to sleep in a furnace as the fan that was provided was useless, the fridge in the room was also broken so the water they put in there was also warm, an awful experience as I was told it had been down since Friday of last week and the hotel made ZERO effort to let guests know as there wouldn’t have been a hope in hell of me staying there if I had known. This hotel clearly only cares about their bottom line as oddly the AC was working fine in the gym and restaurant but not the rooms. Awful experience, one I won’t be repeating"
"Perfect location steps away from the central rail station, especially when traveling with lots of luggage. Staff was very polite and eager to help. Room was simple but nice and clean. I didn't get a sense of amenities, so I think they were basic, but I wasn't in the room enough to seek them out anyway. The price was good compared to other hotels in the city centre. Would absolutely stay again!"
"convenient and a reasonable price. Limited and expensive food and drink. Its ok if you want a nice sit down meal, no good if you want a quick bite or if you're covering your own expenses."
"Double bedroom was clean & tidy. It had tea and coffee in the bedroom. The room was very lost cost but was fine for a couple of nights in Barry. We had breakfast at the nearby Wetherspoons pub just a 5 minutes walk downhill, as the hotel does not have a restaurant only a small bar."
