Calheta's harbor promenade, which has numerous restaurants and shopping facilities, can be reached in 15 minutes by car. Madeira's capital, Funchal, is around 45 minutes' drive away. Numerous levadas and vantage points are in the immediate vicinity. A trip to the picturesque town of Porto Moniz with its natural swimming pools leads through the impressively beautiful landscape of the north-eastern part of the island.
