Staffing was adequate. However, several aspects of the stay were disappointing. The mattress was extremely uncomfortable, with springs clearly felt through the surface, making it hard to get a good night's sleep. The curtains resembled stained white sheets, which gave the room a neglected appearance. The shower was poorly designed; any decent water pressure caused the showerhead to pop out of the holder, making it very impractical to use. The walls were not soundproof at all, and I was frequently woken up at night by other guests talking in nearby rooms. Additionally, there was no change of bed sheets or towels during the entire stay, which fell short of basic expectations for cleanliness and comfort.

The property is in need of updating and some tlc . It was fine for a night but I wouldn't have wanted longer. The staff are really helpful and friendly. The location is great for the train. Parking is limited but we parked on the street without too much difficulty. Breakfast is cheap , the quality is not great. The room had a lovely seaview but the bedside shelves were loose , the shower rail was loose , the shower was difficult to alter temperature and very slow to drain.

Rooms are perfectly adequate and clean. We had several issues with shower not working and door locks but staff did their best to resolve it and were very helpful We enjoyed our stay as it's centrally located and there's loads of eating options nearby. The hotel has a bar and serves breakfast but we didn't use these during our stay Nice hikes nearby

Upon arrival, the gentleman on reception was very kind and helpful. He checked us in very quickly and gave us an option for breakfast in the morning but wasnt too pushy into buying breakfast, he was more than happy to locate the nearby Wetherspoons. The reception area was clean light. Once we arrived at our room (number 21), we were pleased with the cleanliness and the amount of room we had. The windows opened and closed freely. There were a couple of points about the room on a negative note, these are, the room was too warm on arrival as the radiator was on but once the window opened it quickly cooled, unfortunately there was only one cushion on each bed and in the shower no shower gel or soap had been provided. Other than this we slept well, the mattress was extremely comfortable. There is a bar located in the hotel but we did not visit this so no comments can be made. Finally, there is a function room located in the hotel and unfortunately for us there was a function the night of our stay and music and noise could be heard from this until around midnight, we would have liked to receive an email before arriving to notify us of this function as we may have decided to stay somewhere else, with that being said we had a really good stay and we could have left the car in the car park for a couple of hours after check out but if you are staying here dont worry about parking as there is plenty of on street parking located around the hotel which is free of charge.

To park, it is best to find somewhere on the road as the parking is just in front of the hotel, limited and up a hill. Plenty of places on the adjacent roads. The initial interior of the hotel is nice, welcoming, clean and smells good. We were told on arrival that payment hasn't been taken as their system hasn't been communicating with NatWest. A call prior to staying to inform us would have helped as I hadn't budgeted to pay for the stay as thought I already had. We were given our key to a twin room. Corridors still smelling nice. We arrive into a twin room which stinks of smoke. The room is bare, no pictures, no toiletries. Just two beds, wardrobe, towels and a kettle with some refreshments. We had to go to the local shop to buy shower gel and a candle as the room honestly stank. The mattresses were awful and when you sat on them, they pretty much touched the bed base. The curtains are thin and let light in which is fine when you want to get up and just leave. When I got home, the top I had worn to bed still smelt of smoke. For me, when rooms have been non smoking for years, I could not understand how this room smelt so bad. So avoid room 36 if you're not a smoker... At one point I debated pulling the mattresses into the corridor which smelt much fresher! My son and I were on a budget so this was our budget friendly option but I would not stay here again, even for £53. The staff who welcomed us were lovely and I would say was the only plus side to this stay.

Very friendly and clean hotel with free parking

Very nice thorough welcome from Sara who explained everything I needed to know. Not sure if the soundproofing mentioned in the advertising applied to my double room but the “deep bath” certainly didn’t and I had a shower with a de-laminating base…suggest of these ate important to you then check with the hotel before booking (I a book very late in the day.) Very friendly staff, I like the 24/7 front desk availability and unfortunately couldn’t stay on for breakfast. Will stay again, as I hear food etc is very good.

Great place to stay for a few days. I was looking for somewhere just outside of Cardiff for a few days for a break on my way down to London, turned out to be a very convenient stay and great value too. My room was nicely heated, comfortable bed, good water pressure and clean. The Hotel has a nice bar downstairs for a Friday night drink (very quiet too). Staff were quite friendly and there were a few good options for local cafes and restaurants. It's a good choice and good value. I only stayed two nights. Took a nice drive down to Penarth on morning for breakfast and a walk (10 min drive). Likewise it's not a long drive to Cardiff CBD. Good stay.
