    Guests will enjoy the rich history of whaling, dairy operations, abalone fishing, and canning which were among many thriving business that A.M. Allan operated on this historic property dating back to 1898. This 2 bedroom, one-level home is perfectly situated to maximize the views of Point Lobos and is just a few steps to Monastery Beach — famous for diving and pounding ocean swells. Take pleasure in the sweeping panoramic ocean views of Point Lobos and a white sand beach as your backyard. Scuba divers come from far and wide to enjoy the kelp forests, otters, seals, whales and other wildlife found in the waters off Monastery Beach. Hardwood floors, fireplace and large glass panels blur the lines between indoor and outdoor living. 3 cottages on property. Two 2 bedroom one 3 bedroom.

    No Weddings, Events, or Parties of any kind are allowed.

Abalone Cottage was perfect for two people and a small pup. Everything we needed was at the cottage. The view was spectacular, and the entire experience exceeded my expectations. Thank you for sharing this cozy cottage!

Great Location! Great views! Perfect size for 2 adults, could have fit 4 adults but might have been a little cramped.. Older property but well kept and clean, gate from the parking area could use a little care, it's older and my husband cut his hand on it.. But we would recommend to stay, we would go back. Loved the views, loved how peaceful it was, loved the wildlife and beach.. Nature reserve is about 15 minute walk on a busy hwy that was the only down side... Everything else was great, they were even able to get us in earlier than 4pm on the day of check in.. HWY is crazy busy on holiday weekend, but was good during the week.... close to Carmel and great walking path right by the house.

Thanks for the detailed directions! I am so glad we arrived during daylight hours otherwise it would be easy to miss.Location? AWESOME. Cottage? Dated, but worth every penny. Stunning views and easy walk to the nearby walking paths and a quick drive to Carmel or Point Lobos.Or bring a bike and it’s an easy bike ride to Carmel or Point Lobos.

Breathtaking Views!

Our family had such a wonderful time staying at the Abalone Cottage! The hosts were very communicative and the house was spotless upon arrival. We thoroughly enjoyed the walking trail nearby. Highly suggest this lovely home to anyone who wants a quiet place to stay right on the ocean. We can’t wait to stay again!

Cozy, Comfortable, Convenient, and Quiet

We enjoyed our entire 4 days in this wonderful little cottage. Get back to simple living and take in the superb view of Carmel Bay. Great set-up for our dog, too.

Stunning location & property!!

We enjoyed the property during our week's stay - the views are incredible!! Enjoyed the adjacent trail along the shoreline. We like to make our own meals, so just wish the kitchen's range was more user-friendly.

Paradise at Abalone Cottage

I have stayed with friends at bothWhaler’s Cottage and Abalone Cottage several times. Each and every time has been a delight. The cottages are sublime and the location is unbelievably gorgeous. The hosts are wonderful.
