Simply the best

Perfect for a special occasion. The best food and service we have ever had, the 9 course tasting menu is to die for. We stayed in a stable room and it was luxurious. You won't be disappointed.

Hotel was lovely and in a nice setting. The staff were also nice and friendly however there were a few things that could have been done to make the stay better. These were actually acknowledging it was my birthday which they knew about as I told them before hand and on the day we arrived as they had actually cancelled our booking by mistake. The hotel also only offers a set menu which was disappointing and very expensive. Wifi in main hotel was also very weak and Tv kept pixelating on the second night. Whilst we enjoyed our stay not sure if would go back due these factors.

The location is brilliant, the suite was spacious, quiet and very comfortable. The decoration was also lovely. Staff were very helpful and polite and the breakfast was delicious. We had a lovely time and felt very relaxed after our stay. The building and the gardens look lovely, too. We are hoping to come back soon.

Superb Country House with an amazing restaurant .

Superb in every way. Fabulous country house stay with the most amazing food . The staff are friendly, helpful and efficient and did I mention the food?! An absolute must with easy access to the lovely town of Kirkby Lonsdale and the South Lakes .

Highly recomended

Wonderful stay, to which we could highly recommend. The hotel was very pretty and comfortable. The staff we amazing, so friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. We had the tasting menu - the food was just amazing.

Birthday stay.

Staff and service were excellent. The hall is set in well maintained gardens. We had to move rooms twice, firstly due to a leak in the roof, secondly due to a malfunctioning toilet. The staff were great throughout. Last room was a suite and really well appointed. The only other issue was small and probably the difference between an excellent review and a good review. The pillows had an unpleasant odour similar to if they'd been washed and not dried or aired properly, this was disappointing more than anything and was the same in all three rooms. Other than that we had a superb stay and the food in the restaurant was outstanding!

We received a very frosty reception on arrival as the staff were busy with a wedding so we turned round and left to go elsewhere for a couple of hours. On our return we ordered drinks which didn’t arrive so again we left to go to another establishment again on our return we ordered further drinks which arrived incorrect at which point we ordered a bottle of wine to take to the room and charged £6.00 for service, while I am happy to give a tip for good service I find this extreme for the standard of service given. We then found the dirty underwear of the previous guest in the room, the room was very basic and not the one we had booked but still charged the same price. All in all it was a disappointing experience.

The room was not the same as the picture, really poor, smelled damp, spiders, cob webs in room, grout coming away all around bath, bath hard awful black marks in the bottom of it. Very disappointed as supporters to be a Birthday treat. Didn’t end up staying as so disappointed
