Vakker beliggenhet, herlig utsikt mot Etna. Fine bassengområder, stilfullt hotell med sjarmerende innredning i antikk stil. Hyggelig betjening. Frokosten var skuffende, lite pålegg, manglende påfylling og grønnkokte egg. Skjerpings! Anbefaler ellers varmt hyggelige Castelmola over Taormina som er overturistifisert og tettpakket som på et cruiseskip.

Hotel is amazing, so many antiques and curiosity’s to look at. Very much old fashioned style. Stunning views, quiet location. Book an Etna view room as away from the road. Lots of choice for breakfast and the hotel restaurant just up the road, La Caverna is wonderful. From the pool, reception and the restaurant staff I really can’t fault them. This really is a wonderful hotel. A short walk up a hill is Castelmola for beautiful shops bars and lovely for a drink in the evening. Bus stop outside hote 15 mins to Taormina. You can walk down if fit. Great location

We stayed for 5 nights but would have loved to have stayed longer. Every member of staff at the hotel we met during our stay was helpful, especially David on reception who made us welcome as soon as we arrived. The whole hotel is kept extremely clean, and the team are visibility working hard throughout the day. We had a Classic room which was large enough for our needs and had alot of storage. There was never a problem with getting a sun bed around the pool and the views of Mt. Etna are breathtaking. Breakfast is a buffet with a good hot and cold selection and there is a great restaurant next door called the Caverna in addition a short walk up into the main square there are plenty of good restaurants. The hotel offers a free Shuttle bus into Taomina, can organise a number of trips, we had a day at a beach club,  and a vineyard trip. We had a great stay and hope to be back next year.

The staff in this facility were very nice and helpful. In particular Davide on the reception desk was very helpful, respectful and nice. The only issue I had with this facility is the parking was a little bit difficult because of the nature of the area which was very hilly.

Das Hotel Villa Sonia liegt am Ortseingang von Castelmole auf dem Gipfel des Berges an dem die Strasse von Taormina hinauf endet. Die Fahrt hinauf führt über viele Serpentinen und ist extrem schmal/eng und windet sich durch kleine Ortschaften in ca. 15 Min auf den Berg hinauf. Um Ausflüge zu unternehmen ist es notwendig jedes Mal die Straße wieder runter nach Taormina zu fahren, es gibt keine alternative Route. Uns war nicht bewusst, wie weit weg und wieviel Aufwand es bedeutet dort oben zu übernachten wenn man auch andere Ziele in der Umgebung besuchen möchte. Das Hotel selbst ist sehr in die Jahre gekommen. Die Zimmer sind geräumig und der Blick auf den Ätna grandios! Leider ist das auch schon alles an positiven Anmerkungen. Das Bad im Zimmer ist aus den 70ern, ohne Tageslicht und mit einer alten, teils schimmeligen rosafarbenen Duschkabine. Die Betten sind einfach und haben nur ein Bettuch als Decke. Zum Glück waren weitere Kissen und Wolldecke im Schrank, sodass wir nicht auf einem dünnen Kissen schlafen mussten. Da das Hotel an einem Hügel gebaut wurde, befindet sich der Frühstücksraum sowie die Poolanlage im Untergeschoss. Man kann auf der Terrasse mit schönem Blick frühstücken, falls man nicht durch Wespen gestört wird. Der Pool ist zweckmäßig, die Liegen waren alle belegt und sind dicht an dicht gestellt, . Da das Hotel am Ortseingang zu Castelmole liegt, muss man Treppen nach oben laufen um in den Ort zu gelangen. Nicht für Gehbehinderte geeignet.

Lovely stay! The Etna views from our room and the hotel in general were amazing. Really helpful staff and easy to get into Taormina. Short stroll up the hill and you’re in Castelmola which is also a beautiful little town. Would definitely recommend staying.
