Top Catalina Island Hotel Reviews

Catalina Canyon Inn
2/10 Terrible
"There were very few hotels in the area that had two beds and could fit our family of 4 with availability on Memorial Day weekend. Finding this hotel on Expedia felt like a real win…until we got there Check in at 4pm, our room was ready an hour earlier. We were thankfully able to store our luggage when we arrived. I assumed after 3 hours of cleaning we would be walking in to a room that was clean. But alas we found the last guest’s Froot Loops on the floor. The hotel is quite a trek up a hill from the main drag. We did it a few times when the shuttle wasn’t available or was full of other guests. But I highly recommend staying somewhere more central. For the price of nearly $650 for the night I can honestly say this was the most expensive hotel I have stayed at for the least service. Check out was 11am sharp. We weren’t even able to store our luggage on the way out and had to pay $50 for storage near the ferry!! They have a policy that guests leaving cannot store bags. This is absolutely absurd and a key benefit of spending the night in Catalina. Also the hotel shuttle was very minimal in only going to one location and couldn’t go to the casino for example so we ended up hauling our snorkeling gear and wetsuits around far more than was relaxing."

Zane Grey Pueblo Hotel
6/10 Okay
"The hotel itself is very cool with fantastic views of Avalon. Our room was nice and well maintained. The hotel offers convenient golf cart service to/from the ferry port as well as downtown. However, our experiences with the front desk staff left a lot to be desired. Their patience seemed low, they offered little information without prying, and there were a couple of mistakes that created inconvenience and issues for us. Given its relative lack of competition on the island, it's still one of the best places to stay. But for the price, it has not earned an enthusiastic recommendation from our group."

La Paloma Las Flores
10/10 Excellent
"Tony was very kind and hospitable I will definitely stay here again"

Hermosa Hotel
4/10 Poor
"Place is quickly spiraling down the toilet. Horribly maintained. Stains everywhere: walls, curtains, towels, bed covers. We were in a "cottage." Should have called it a closet. Tiny, no place to hang anything, lack of maintenance visible everywhere. This was an interestingly stupid touch: to turn on the light for the restroom, you had to turn on the bright light over the sink which was in the bedroom. I had to take apart the light fixture to unscrew the bulb, otherwise, every time the bathroom light was turned on, the entire tiny bedroom was flooded with light. Burn it down and start over."

Hotel Metropole
8/10 Good
"You need to have a safe in the room. The coffee maker did not work"

Bellanca Hotel
6/10 Okay
"Location was top tier. Very walkable to all of the prime spots that you would want to see in Avalon. The bar/restaurant that is in the hotel is also a nice amenity that you can enjoy, facing the beach side."
