The Silver Ridge Retreat is a family-owned accommodation facility nestled in a tranquil rolling hills right at the foot of Mount Roland, a majestic 1234 metres high mountain rising above the Kentish municipality in the picturesque Cradle Country region of Tasmania. The property is a hidden gem that deserves a six-star rating. The spacious property successfully preserved its rural and organic character boasting nine fully equipped and contemporary two-bedroom cabins. We booked a studio unit in the main residential building . Thank you John for upgrading us to a larger self-contained cabin that had everything we needed to remain isolated from the busier townships nearby like Sheffield. There is a Bosch dishwasher, Bosch electric cooktop and oven, as well as a large refrigerator to store an ample supply of food and drinks for our two-night stay. John, our host and owner of the property, is accommodating and amiable ensuring not only our enjoyment of his property but also our safety. The panoramic views are breathtaking and stunning from every angle. The retreat is by itself a truly unique travel destination because as an integral part of your retreat accommodation, the property offers a Silver Mine and Rainforest Walk that takes you to an historic mining cave dating back to the 1870s. This property is a must-stay and must-see, a perfect detour en route to the Cradle Mountain.

Great stay

Spacious cottage, fresh air and great view of Mt Roland. The place is about 45 minutes drive to cradle mountain and 10 mins drive into Sheffield town. We enjoyed our stay there.

Silver Ridge was exactly as it was on the website. It’s in a stunning area and was exactly what we wanted - nice and relaxing. The spring water is nice and clean but grab some bottles of water from the IGA in Sheffield for your tea and coffee. John was a great host - keen for a longer stay.

The resort is in an amazing location, with Mount Roland looming over it - very dramatic. It is convenient to Cradle Mountain, about an hour away by road, and also only about 15 minutes from Sheffield, with its artistic delights (murals, mosaics etc). The resort's owner John could not have been more considerate and helpful. We were only there 2 days/nights but loved it.

Stayed for a week and it was absolutely spectacular! Just beautiful to stay in, so peaceful and quiet, and with stunning Mt. Roland views just about anywhere. We saw the echidnas, possum, platypus, and all the farm animals. Then there were glow worms and the spiders in the cave - an amazing experience. This is an excellent place to stay for anybody enjoying the countryside. We will return. John was a very welcoming, friendly host!

Okay for a couple of nights. About 50 minute drive from Cradle Mountain on some challenging roads. No dishwasher but nice indoor pool. Laundry facilities but only the one washing machine for the 9 chalets on the site.
