  • Spring Hill was the prelude to the Battle of Franklin. On the night of Nov 28, 1864, Gen. John Bell Hood’s Army of Tennessee marched toward Spring Hill to get astride Maj. Gen. John M. Schofield’s Union army’s life line. Cavalry skirmishing between Brig. Gen. James H. Wilson’s Union cavalry and Maj. Gen. Nathan Bedford Forrest’s Confederate troopers continued throughout the day as the Confederates advanced. On Nov 29, Hood’s infantry crossed Duck River and converged on Spring Hill. In the meantime, Maj. Gen. Schofield reinforced the troops holding the crossroads at Spring Hill. In late afternoon, the Federals repulsed a piecemeal Confederate infantry attack. During the night, the rest of Schofield’s command passed from Columbia through Spring Hill to Franklin. This was, perhaps, Hood’s best chance to isolate and defeat the Union army. The engagement has been described as “one of the most controversial non-fighting events of the entire war."

The lady at the reception desk was very helpful and friendly. We were traveling with our dog and she made sure that we had a ground floor room. The room was clean and nicely furnished. We appreciated that the heater was very quiet. The bathtub and surround were in poor shape and the faucet was tricky to turn off. This was in room 128. We appreciated the location of the hotel, off I-65 but far enough away that we did not hear expressway noise. Restaurants were nearby.

The property was welcoming to pets. The facility is run down. The wall behind the bathroom door was filthy and there were Japanese beetles and stink bugs all in the room. I am from Tennessee and understand this could happen but this was excessive. It was a king size bed but only enough towels for one person was provided. The microwave does not plug into the wall. The cord will not even reach. The floor at the bathroom was coming up and had a hole in the laminant. There was a strong smell of burning wires (possibly drug use from another tenant). While the staff was friendly on check out, this facility needs a complete overhaul.

Clean, good location right off interstate. Only needed room to sleep and shower for one night for me and my daughter during a softball tournament. Only issues were the door handle on bathroom was messed up, and it was hard to keep door shut. Also the main door to room, the latch didn’t work right and I had to lift up on door to get it to shut over the little thing. Normal lock worked fine. I wasn’t a fan of the windows they seemed like they might be easy to open from the outside. Not many options for their breakfast either. Otherwise it was a nice pleasant stay, I would stay there again if I needed to.

Very underwhelming

The room was a nice size, and the staff was friendly. But we had three separate covers and all of them had holes. Some of these holes were from cigarettes even though it was a no-smoking room. We had to keep getting new key cards to replace because cards that stopped working. The couch in the room wasn't clean.

Seems a little pricey for what it is.

So, this is a renovated property. The floor in our room left you climbing up hill to the bathroom. The flooring has cracks and dips throughout the room. The bed was comfortable, but the sheets did not fit it properly, and slid off during the night. The sink was clogged, we told them before we went out the first morning, but it was still clogged when we returned hours later. They sent someone up to fix it while we were there. The pool was clean and enjoyable, but it was right up next to the Burger King parking lot. And do not bother with the complimentary breakfast.

Not clean or comfortable.

The floor was sticky. We were in a non smoking room, but it still smelled like cigarettes and there were visible burn holes on the top “comforter”. The bathroom sink had hair in it and the shower’s tub looked dirty. Also the baseboards in the bathroom were really dusty as if they hadn’t been cleaned in a while. The freezer was iced over, smelled and there were remnants of food in it. Noise control was an issue one night with people partying a few doors down and talking loudly. The bed was very stiff and uncomfortable, and the pillows offered no support. I left with horrible neck pain. Overall not a great stay. I really booked to save money but it just wasn’t worth it. The staff was nice, despite the hotel cleanliness.

The staff was amazing, so friendly. The last 3 nights of our stay the guest in the room next to us would have friends over and music thumping thru the walls. They would be laughing and talking over the loud music in the room and outside, leaving the door open and doordashing liquor.

Complete lack of regard for safety - ice all over stairs and at entrance that had not even been attempted cleared. Front desk “worker” at check in was obviously underage female who couldn’t speak English. Run reeked of weed. Bathtub drain wouldn’t drain properly. Blanket on bud stained with heaven knows what. Had to stay here during a weather emergency…..better off sleeping in the car instead of this dump.
