  • The second oldest building remaining on The Ohio State University campus, Orton Hall was opened in 1893. It is named after Dr Edward Orton, Sr. who served as Ohio State's first president, OSU Professor of Geology from 1873 to 1899, and Ohio's State Geologist from 1882 until his death in 1899. Orton Hall is built of 40 different Ohio building stones. In the outside walls, these stones are laid in stratigraphic order according to their relative positions in Ohio's bedrock. The only non-indigenous to Ohio stone used is Indiana Limestone to build the front steps. It was chosen because of its high concentration of embedded fossils. The bell tower was dedicated in 1915 and contains 25,000 pounds of bells that can be heard regularly tolling across campus. Encircling the top of the tower are 24 columns with gargoyle-like figures which are restorations of fossil animals.

This place was by far the worst I have stayed at in a while. They did not let you know there was no breakfast but advertised they did state it was under construction but still changed full price. Laundry was broken could not use. They didn’t have clean rooms there was a bloody noise bogey on the shower curtain when we arrived and it was still there when we left probably still there. Never would I stay there again not even for free

This location was run down and smelled horrendous. The staff told us they were under construction. This was not made available to us when we booked. Choose this for buffet breakfast and pool. Neither was available! Very disappointed.

Absolutely horrible stay. My comforter had a cigarette burn in it. Our room REAKED of cigarettes and the smell of smoke came in all night long. My young kids cried and didn’t sleep. I tried to contact the hotel and Expedia with no help. The room is dated and DIRTY.

Room was ok my suggestion is never leave any amount of money out. Money taken and room wasn’t serviced at time money was taken. Was also quoted a different price and told they didn’t have rooms but when made reservation online mysteriously two rooms were available at a different price.

Clean room and very quiet—it was a nice, calm stay overall. The only downsides were that my desk didn’t have a chair, so it was difficult to get work done. The TV remote was also missing, and I was only issued one room key. However, when I brought these issues to the staff’s attention, they fixed them quickly. Aside from those small issues, the stay was comfortable and peaceful.

The hotel must’ve been just renovated. It looks like it just opened the restaurant. There was no breakfast available because they’re still renovating. They’re still remodeling the place or refreshing the area place up, but I don’t know but it’s nice. It’s nice in the inside. The only thing that was horrible, was the staff I checked in and I wasn’t able to use my key to get in my room. They had to get maintenance man several times to let me in and I just unexcused right there. I purchased how I drive two hours away. Just get this to land a nice clean hotel where I can be able to get access to it whenever I feel like and I wasn’t able to get that opportunity that privilege after the maintenance man left cause I cause I was able to get in after the management let me in but the maintenance man stay till 10 o’clock so I left after 10 o’clock to enjoy the nice weather in the city of Columbus Ohio ha I try to get back into my room in my room. Key still wasn’t working. There was a different staff member that was trying to help me that they switched different keys. There was no luck getting in my room even the security guard which had a master key were trying to get in and who I was not able to get in and I was frustrated. I didn’t get him. They had to put me in another room like around 3 AM 4 AM 4 AM in the morning and I’m very frustrated very angry. The only thing they like that that’s unexcused every other everybody else key master key was opening the other other attendance, other

We filled out the virtual check-in information and when we got there they said they don't do that. We got our room which smelled overwhelming of smoke. There was no cold water in the bathroom sink.....no water came out at all. The curtain rod was on the floor and broken. Needless to say we were a little disappointed in this property.

I booked this property so we could have a pool side get away, then to find out that their pool was down. It was suppose to be ready for the next night that we stayed and again, no pool. Had I known, I would have booked elsewhere. The room was nice, but could have stayed home and watched T.V. and not paid for a doggie sitter. :( There was no room number on our door and elevators were so very slow. No ice either.

Great A+ staff — everyone was friendly, welcoming, and made me feel right at home. The lobby and rooms were clean and spacious, and the location is convenient if you have a car. Some areas, especially the hallway to my room, felt a bit dated, but overall it was a great value for my stay.

The overall cleanliness of the room and bathroom was poor. The hotel is older and in need of some updates to the rooms however that should not effect the cleanliness. Bathroom was not sufficiently clean, I had to purchase cleaner to clean the bathtub, shower curtain, and floor. Also the room carpet was not clean and not fully swept. The room worked for a short stay but I will not choose to stay again.

I called 2 days before and was promised a working hot tub. upon arrival, the hot tub water was ice cold. the desk promised to inform maintenance at 5pm. at 7pm, I was told that the status was unknown. at 8pm, maintenance was called and informed that the tub was not working at all.
