  • The second oldest building remaining on The Ohio State University campus, Orton Hall was opened in 1893. It is named after Dr Edward Orton, Sr. who served as Ohio State's first president, OSU Professor of Geology from 1873 to 1899, and Ohio's State Geologist from 1882 until his death in 1899. Orton Hall is built of 40 different Ohio building stones. In the outside walls, these stones are laid in stratigraphic order according to their relative positions in Ohio's bedrock. The only non-indigenous to Ohio stone used is Indiana Limestone to build the front steps. It was chosen because of its high concentration of embedded fossils. The bell tower was dedicated in 1915 and contains 25,000 pounds of bells that can be heard regularly tolling across campus. Encircling the top of the tower are 24 columns with gargoyle-like figures which are restorations of fossil animals.

The room was relatively clean. Our door lock did not work. The wifi did not work. There was very little available for breakfast, so we ended up having to go elsewhere for breakfast. It was ok for the value we paid. Would not stay here again though.

the internet was down , the room was disgustingly dirty, our lock was broken, we did not feel safe . it was in a bad area and it smelled like marijuana, and there were crumbs in the bed. we checked out a day early and were told we would get a refund and have not heard back in regards to it .

Probably the worst hotel ever stayed at. There were bodily fluids, including urine, seamen, other bodily objects spread around the room. The mattress was completely stained yellow, and the locks on the door didn’t work. The bathroom door didn’t close, along with the closet door. We moved rooms, and the room we moved to, wasn’t any better. Overall, don’t stay there.

The walls to the rooms must be paper thin. We could hear the conversations/partying of guests across the hall from us all night long. When luggage was rolled down the hall, it sounded like it was inside our room. Knocks on other doors sounded like it was on our door.

The room itself was filthy the floors and the furniture we were immediately met with the strong smell of cigar, when we turned on the heat vent it was enough to make us check out immediately The Whole room filled up with the smell of urine like someone literally used the bathroom inside the vent also this hotel is advertised as airport but it’s not close I didn’t receive a refund and when I explaining to the front desk why I would rather go home and be in the dark (it was a power outage due to strong winds in Ohio) instead of their hotel he could care less and offered no kind of compensation not even an apology

Staff was super friendly, breakfast was perfect. The shade for my window fell off when I tried to raise it the next day. It wasn't back on that night so I just draped it over the rod and it was fine

I was VERY dissatisfied with the cleanliness of our room. My bed was COVERED in brown stains.. the comforts, sheets and pillows! Absolutely DISGUSTING. There was crust and dirt everywhere. This place has clearly never been cleaned properly. Never staying here again.

Check-in lady was very nice. The air conditioner fan would not run when “continuous fan” button was pressed. Inoperative or disabled? I like the hum of a fan to drown out noise from inside and outside of the hotel. In the future, I’ll spend the extra money on a nicer hotel.

Throughout my stay my room never had toilet paper and the single use shampoo and conditioner were empty. The staff made my bed and took my towels so I know they had been in the room and the bathroom specifically but never put in any toilet paper.
