This is our 3rd stay at Aruba Bay and Wholesome Inn. We absolutely love the unit and location. Unfortunately, we are disappointed in the overall maintenance of the public amenities. The first year we came, there were organized activities for families (s'mores by the pool, fishing) which we loved and our kids looked forward to, we found out the 2nd year this was no longer happening which was a disappointment. The slide pool, which is one of our main attractions to the Aruba Bay property, is always overcrowded. We usually escape to the other pool for some peace and safety from too many people etc. This year the pools were honestly disgusting to say the least. Both pools waterline tile was disgusting with grime and gunk of which I suspect is sunscreen etc and understand at the beach this is hard to combat however, it looked as though it hadn't been deep cleaned in a very long time. It was uninviting along with the hairballs that were found in the pools and of course the overcrowding just continues to get worse and worse each year. The birds nesting in the slide pool covering and the amount of bird poop on top of the slides is awful and disgusting not to mention the risk of germs and diseases carried by birds. There was missing limestone tiles on the slide pillars and mold and algae growing everywhere. As far as the unit, as previously stated, we love the unit, the furnishing and the household items available are always perfect for our stay and it feels like our home away from home. I did notice this year there is some mold around the air conditioning vent in the living room as you walk towards the bedroom and bathroom. I didn't notice this until the last day but do wonder if it contributed to our daughter starting to have respiratory symptoms by the 3rd day of the trip. We enjoyed our vacation as we found a lot of things to do away from the property but we are not sure we will be back to Aruba Bay or any other properties managed by Padre Escapes in the future.
