The staff were amazing! Everyone was kind and attentive to all of our requests! Check in system is very slow and was challenging after a long day of travel. Buffets were good and the kids loved the food! Sit down dinner we only went 1 time because reservations were hard to get for our big group and the food was just ok. Activities were minimal but Cesar was fun and tries to get everyone involved! Beach was beautiful and secluded! Taxi service was fast and easy, 20 usd per ride to town. We loved our time at El Cozumeleno! For a more budget friendly all inclusive option we would highly recommend! Make your own fun at this beautiful property! El Coz has so much character!
Beach and snorkeling are a high light!

When we first arrived, we were a little shocked with our room. It is not what is depicted in the photos. This hotel has been “touched-up” far too long, and is in need of a proper doing-over. That being said, once we accepted that our room wasn’t what we thought (towels are very old, bedsheets are very worn and sometimes stained) and the beds are well-worn in as well, we decided to make the most of it. We’re happy we did. The hotel is clean, the food is delicious. It takes a long time to get the food if you order it, and the buffet is very small. Do not expect a buffet like you would at a big named resort. This hotel is locally owned. It seems to generate a lot of income, but that income should be used to do some updating and repairs. We had 4 staff members that really went above and beyond for us. We adored them. In the dining area, it was Ruby, José and Alejandro. At the tourism desk, Roberto was lovely and very helpful. The beach is amazing, and the snorkelling was way beyond our expectations. Overall, we did enjoy our stay, and, if the price is right, we would go again.

The property has really gone down. I’ve gone to this same resort since 2017 almost yearly. They don’t have as many activities but the activity staff are great. The food took way longer to get if you ordered off the menu they didn’t understand what you were ordering. They only brought you half of your things and one time I was told no.. the restaurant is no longer open for breakfast. There was coffee stains outside our door when we arrived they were still there the day we left. so they didn’t mop the hallways once while we were there in seven days. I still love the beach and snorkeling but I’m going to look for a new resort

Overall, our trip was okay. Good weather & good food. The frustration was on the first day, with checking in; we arrived by shuttle from the airport by 230pm (note: check-in time on website stated 3pm). While at the counter, I was charged an additional $300 for a minor because our 3rd family member was not an “infant”, this was not stated on the website, plus an additional deposit fee. The process of checking in & obtaining room key and verifying our id’s/passports took over 1 hour & receptionist informed us that our room was not ready. It was close to 5pm before we were able to get into our room! When asked about any compensation, I was ignored & the question was dismissed (and again the following days when following up regarding this). This was extremely frustrating after traveling all day. Prior to leaving for our trip, numerous attempts to contact the hotel were made to request early check-in & “pre-register” but received no response. The rooms were outdated & need updates, shower leaked onto bathroom floor, during our stay there was a sewage backup & you could feel the springs in the bed. The food was good, it is buffet style so you could wait in line for up to 20min for something from the grill, many of the selection was gone or not replaced during mealtime. Drinks were good but the full drink menu was not available to all visitors. Hot tub was cold. Beach was beautiful, but be careful of sharp rocks. Hint: don’t take shuttle($$)walk outside of airport & get taxi!

Would not recommend this place under any circumstances due to terrible upkeep, total lack of customer service, and biased treatment of guests by the manager JULIO. We were a group of 10 booked under one reservation with rooms that were all THE SAME PRICE. Manager chose to upgrade every room in the group EXCEPT the only pair that didn’t include a male. JULIO clearly told staff to give the women a double bed room which had a ring of grime around the tub and sink, hair all over the bathroom floor, trash under the bed and stains on the wall. When the women asked for a king bed they were told none were available even though they were the second room assigned out of 5. After the rest of our group checked in, we found out everyone else in the group had all been given “free upgrades” with king beds. The room given to the women was considerably dirtier, lower quality, and generally more disgusting than rooms given to others in the group, though the entire place was questionable. After over two hours of politely stating our case the women were finally given a new room with a more comfortable king bed. It rained in the night, flooding several first floor rooms (we could see them being squeegeed out as we left), and putting the elevators out of order. Two members of our group had to walk up 7 stories to retrieve luggage and drag it down the stairs again. Confronted JULIO the next day with what we felt was biased treatment. He was unapologetic and couldn’t care less.

The resort was clean and the staff were excellent, friendly and helpful. The snorkelling was wonderful right off the beachfront. The pool area was large, lovely, and well maintained with an insufficient number of chairs and loungers. Unfortunately, our room shared an interior door with the adjacent room, and several nights were disturbed by loud music and an inconsolable screaming child, issues the staff did attempt to address. The food was tasty and could have offered more variety over our two week stay.

I don't usually do reviews but this needs attention. We had a beautiful view of the ocean from our room. Pools were nice and large. Leo and Cesar in activities were great. So much so that my son remembered Leo from 2 years ago. Waiters Aldo and Aljeondro were true professionals and the highlight of this property. That is were the pleasantries end. Room to large with rock hard beds. No AC available had to argue with staff to get a fan. Bath had a mild dew smell to it. We were in the older section so hopefully the newer section is better. There is a serious lack of pride in the resort ie cigarette butts on the pool deck, pool deck has trash on it from the day before, sand/trash on the steps and maintenance walking by it as they were staining railing.

HORRIBLE DO NOT STAY HERE. SO OLD and bed is like CONCRETE. I should have believed the reviews and stayed somewhere nice and just spent the money. Our room was disgusting. Old, moldly wet spots on the ceiling, AC spitting out dust, shower looked like a prison cell. We traveled with our 16-month-old son and nothing was kid friendly. The balcony has bars so far apart he could slip though, so dangerous. The crib provided was doll sized and had a broken leg, had to get a 2nd one, mattress has yellow urine stains and our sheets had blood spots, so disgusting. Waited at the front desk 2 hours just to check in and asked someone for food after traveling wigg to our toddler and no one would help us. He slipped and cut his lip open on all the wet tile and I ran around the resort trying to find ice. Staff were mostly rude and seemed irritated in the restaurant. The buffet was so gross, food sat out for many hours. Drinks were watered down and sugary. One high chair for the entire resort it was a joke. Pool and ocean front gorgeous but the resort is SO GROSS. I beg you don’t stay here. I’ve never seen such an old room. The shower pressure was a small trickle 1/10 pressure, not kidding. Asked someone for help at the desk, would not help us. FOOD IS AWFUL. The hotel is trash and nobody cared. They make money only because the beach is beautiful and ocean waters are clean and blue. 0 star resort, 5 star beach/oceanfront. This was a trip for our 5 year wedding anniversary, total joke. Sad.

Staff very friendly. Hotel needs a remodel- tiles broken, mold in shower, needs an upgrade. Poor physical condition. Food ok. No evening entertainment.

Great ocean view, but room was very underwhelming and in need of repairs!! Bathrooms looked like something out of a prison and was dirty. Food was very average and not a great selection with birds in the food buffet area!! All in all very unhygienic. Staff on a whole were great with the odd grumpy ones!! In closing, this property needs some major upgrades to their building and all rooms. Beds are old and VERY uncomfortable.

Our room, the bed mattress was old and sunk on the left and right, high peak in middle, ocean view was good, trying to find a chairs to relax around the pools, hard to get as people put towels down 430 a.m or earlier. No phones in the room to call front desk in case of emergency. The reservation for the one restaurant was very poor, white wine was like vinegar, chicken break was very difficult to cut. After check out, they didn't even ask how our stay was. The part of the resort was the waiting staff that worked there ass off....will not be going to this resort again.

Ocean view - beautiful view. AC did not work, buffet was awful - 3-4 choices. Check in took 1.5 hours, even with pre check in. Would never return to this place.

The hotel was the worse I’ve ever stayed in.. staff was not friendly and hospitality was horrible… we waited one hour to check in… when we got to our room our door was broken and door knob was falling … the sheets had stains, the shower had a lot of mold !! No entertainment and just not very happy about food either … we had to wait for half hour to get our food @ the restaurant that needed “reservation” .. one week stayed and only Pedro the chef and Roger the waiter treated us right , because not even the general manager did!! I hated that we had to carry our safe key around too

This seemed like an older property, but was clean, had friendly staff, and had one of the best beaches in the area. The snorkeling is amazing right on the property; better than some excursions honestly. The downfall (for us) was the food. It definitely was ok, but the options were not great. We went downtown a couple days and treated ourselves to better than what was available on the resort. Bottom line is this property has a fantastic beach with awesome snorkling, but not great buffett options. For us, we will definitely stay here again because the beach and snorkeling are so worth it. Food can be gotten elsewhere if you dont care for the buffet.

El check in fue súper tardado !! Solo había 2 personas en recepción, casi 1 hora formados El check out debe ser a las 11:00am cuando en todos los hoteles es a las 12:00hrs El personal no es amable, quise hacer un check out tardío pagando por supuesto y no me dejaron .. argumentando que debía avisar desde antes lo cual no entendí pues no quería seguir usando la habitación si no las instalaciones.. lo cual se me hizo absurdo el que no me dejaran !! No te dan toallas secas .. las usamos un día y ya no las pudimos entregar porque subimos tarde a la habitación entonces al día siguiente pedimos nos las cambiaran por secas y no quisieron !! En general tuve una pésima experiencia JAMÁS REGRESARÍA Y NO RECOMENDARÍA LO VISITEN

Staff was great. Food Could use some improvements. Buffet is small and gets old. Only one restaurant and food is ok. They could use another restaurant but the Resort is older and could use updating. But overall was enjoyable.
