The Grand Lodge is definitely once of the nicest properties available to the public in the Crested Butte/Gunnison Valley. Nestled at the base of Mt. Crested Butte, it's location simply cannot be beat. At the main stop on the bus line, Steps away from the Silver Queen chair lift, restaurant in the hotel. Steam room was so clutch after a long day on the slopes. Dog Friendly!
Two brief negatives for me:
1) They have a full restaurant and bar area that was not in operation during the day. I was making sandwiches for the ski hill back in my room and needed brown mustard. Went to the front desk to ask if an employee would go into the restaurant and get me some. She instead was rude and told me to walk across the street and buy mustard from the store. Silly..... I just paid $400 for a 2 night stay and you can't comp me some mustard? Poor Service
2) The unit I stayed in was in the hotel, but was owned and operated by a separate LLC. We called for a late check out on Sunday AM to get an extra 1/2 day on the mountain. The girl at the front desk confirmed a late check out, but come 10 o'clock room service was pounding on our door expecting us to be out. Apparently there is no communication between the hotel and the privately owned and operated rooms. This put us in an uncomfortable situation. Again, poor service.
Overall, it was a great time. I love CB, and will be coming back for many years, and will most likely stay at the Grand Lodge again if the rates are reasonable.
