"The facilty is old & the room smelled of cigarettes, but everything else was wonderful. If looking for authentic Japanese experience (for the working and middle class Japanese) this is a very good experience. Dinner and breakfast buffet was really good. However there's little to do around the lake, unlike Yamashiro ir Yamanaka onsen area. "

"Onsen is located on a river and surrounded by nature. Very picturesque. The food served was excellent, traditional cuisine, lots of variety, and plentiful. I appreciated the free shuttle service from the train station to the onsen, this needs to be arranged beforehand through the expedia booking platform. The room was clean. Facilities could benefit from upgrades. "

"Unfriendly staffs from front desk to kitchen. Been to many ryokans around Japan for the past few years and this is by far one of the worst. Nearby room was being rowdy past 11pm and nothing was done to ensure a restful stay. Service was bad, quality of stay was bad, kaiseki dinner was average and disappointing. During meals at the restaurant, there was no staff waiting to welcome us for dinner and breakfast during one of the days we stayed. For the price paid, I would rather head back to the...
