Lifeboat Cottage - 50 meters from the beach

A former fisherman’s cottage, Lifeboat Cottage dates back to the 1800s but has recently been tastefully renovated to provide a holiday home that blends contemporary style and modern amenities with traditional seaside charm.
Nestled in a quiet street in Walmer’s conservation area, it’s a stone’s throw from the beach and a short walk along the front to Deal’s town centre, with its quirky independent shops, markets and cafés. Even closer is the Strand, with an attractive green and bandstand, traditional bakery, pubs, convenience stores and a café where you can enjoy a superb full English with a view all the way to France. You can even buy freshly caught fish direct from the boatmen on the beach.
Deal itself is a charming, unspoilt Georgian seaside town with two Tudor castles, local museums and a striking modernist pier all worth a visit. Within a thirty minute drive are the cathedral city of Canterbury, Dover Castle, and the major shopping outlet at Ashford. For two legs or two wheels, there are plenty of country and coastal paths and trails to explore.
Golfers, too, are spoilt for choice, with three superb British Open courses nearby – Royal St. Georges, Royal Cinque Ports and Princes.
This particular stretch of Kentish coast offers you the Turner Contemporary, Dreamland and the extraordinary shell grotto in Margate, Dickensian Broadstairs, Ramsgate’s Royal Harbour, Whitstable and the picturesque Medieval streets of Sandwich. Enough for plenty of days out.
And of course, France is just 20 miles away by sea.
Wherever you get to, Lifeboat Cottage is the perfect spot to return to. Downstairs is a light and airy lounge complete with working fireplace, a spacious kitchen diner and bathroom. Upstairs are two double bedrooms, one with views and a wall-mounted TV. Outside, the delightful courtyard garden is the ideal spot to catch the last rays of sunshine, and there is handy side access for bikes and pushchairs. Sky TV (including Sky Sports) and Wi-fi are both included so you’ll never miss a match or a message.
No smoking, please, for the comfort and enjoyment of our non-smoking guests.

Was a great location and the check-in was easy with the supplied lock box, although the front door lock was a bit fiddly. The beach was a literal stones throw away and there was a great view of the RNLI station from the bedroom window. As a location, it was great and was fairly easy to park outside or close by without having to pay. There were a few small issues that spoilt the stay. There was no soap in the downstairs bathroom and no replacement available. There were only 4 teabags, the sugar and coffee were rock hard and contaminated and mixed up. There was a bag for a hairdryer in one of the bedroom drawers but no actual hairdryer. The pullout we used in the 2nd bedroom in case our little one fell out of the main bed was not very clean and was covered in hair and some of the mugs and plates were dirty. There was no way of locking the bathroom or toilet doors for privacy as the locks did not line up. A great location but rough around the edges.

Anniversary break in Walmer

We rented the cottage for 4 nights in June and were lucky to be blessed with good weather. Property itself was exactly as described and offered fantastic accommodation for our short stay. There were lots of nice touches such as the provision of some lovely cakes and some milk in the fridge. The tv (including Sky) and internet access were great. Location yards from the beach front and shops. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the property.

The Cottage/Terrace was ideal for up to three pers +small dog. Decoration and funiture was in good condition,with plenty of added pictures and ornaments. TV's, with Netflicks Sky and Wifi for phones etc. The friendly host is easy to contact will give advice if you have a problem.easy to contact Parking can be a bit tight! Usually a slot can be found when the renovation teams have gone home!. Seem buyers are being attracted to the houses as a good investment. The sea front is close by, with wide macadam paths (no bumps and lumps) stretching for miles. Ideal for walking, walking the dog, cyclists and ideal for mobility scooters users. I would go back again to this area again for a holiday.

Lovely cottage, great location

It's a really nice, comfortable and well-equipped cottage close to the sea and in a delightful area. Comfortable beds and bedrooms, nice and clean, very well equipped kitchen. Plenty of space to sit. We really enjoyed staying in Lighthouse cottage. Great walks from Walmer and dog-friendly beaches to hand.

Wir hatten eine super Zeit in diesem Ferienhaus!

Als wir ankamen, waren wir schon ganz hin und weg von der liebevollen Dekoration und der geschmackvollen Einrichtung. Den Schlüssel bekamen wir persönlich überreicht und uns wurde in einem kleinen Rundgang alles gezeigt und erklärt. Im Kühlschrank wurden wir mit einem Sahnekuchen und frischer Milch willkommen geheißen und auch für die Kinder gab es eine schokoladige Überraschung. Das Haus war sehr sauber und wir hatten hier alles, was wir für unseren Aufenthalt benötigten. Auch unsere Hunde fühlten sich wohl. Die Nähe zum Meer ist perfekt und morgens mit einem Blick aufs Wasser wach zu werden, lässt den Tag doch noch gleich viel besser beginnen. Wir können uns gut vorstellen, nochmal hier Urlaub zu machen. Danke :-)

Home Away From Home

We came here for 2 weeks from Ontario, Canada, for an extended family reunion with family in the UK and from Australia. The cottage is immaculately clean, well designed and has everything you could possibly need to make it an enjoyable stay, and there are so many thoughtful touches. Upon arrival, there was tea, coffee, milk and sugar and a fresh cream cake in the fridge! The beds are very comfortable, and there is lots of wardrobe and drawer space. We were able to make supper for family (5 at a time!) and the kitchen has everything you would need. The location is great - you can see the Lifeboat building from the front bedroom window, and it is within walking distance of shops, seafront and restaurants. The Stag pub is literally almost opposite, and it has a courtyard type garden at the back that the family made use of. Buses run to Canterbury and Dover, and the bus stop is very close to the cottage. It is a ten/fifteen minute walk to the town centre (depending on how fast you walk and whether you go direct, or meander along the seafront). The Zetland pub is a long walk or short drive away, and the food is great. Best fish and chips was Mario's along the Strand. Great Indian food at Namaste, which is on the Dover Road. We loved every minute of our stay and would certainly come back if we ever needed a place to stay in Walmer.

We were most impressed with Lifeboat Cottage and had a lovely stay. The cottage is beautifully decorated to a high standard and very well equipped. There are 2 good sized, very comfortable double bedrooms. Location is ideal - very close to the sea front.

Cottage was tastefully decorated and had everything you could possibly need. It was very clean and cosy; a real home from home. The beds and sofa were comfortable. It was in a good quiet location; close to town and seafront. You could park outside the cottage and the local restaurants and bakery were really great. Mark kept in touch with us and was very helpful. We would definitely stay here again.
